Disconnecting from server

Greetings everyone, first post.

Past two hrs, think I disconnected like 20 times. anyone else having this problem?

 
Oh my it all looks sooooo pretty!!!!

It took an age to download, but have played for a short while, and it's very smooth, lots of graphics improved, planets are breath-taking - no disconnects, only minor stutters in hyperspace.

However, I like most cannot alt+tab back to windoze - this will need sorting asap!!!

Other than that, 10/10, great job FDev!
 
Frustrating

Yep, but when I get back in I'm rattling around in a space station, lots of damage and a 1000cr fine for intrusion. I pay it but it won't go away, so I get blasted when I try to leave. Its nibbling away at my
credits.

I got caught up in some lag, slammed into the side of chango dock and got '100cr wanted' then got booted from the server by a crash. went back on to pay it off and got shot down by the station!! Not a cheery start tonight. Hopefully the server problems (probably caused by EVERYONE coming on to have a go tonight) will be OK in a day or so and I can sneak in to pay my fine without further issues!

Several server crashes (west mids in the UK if anyone thinks it makes a difference) and an annoying problem with the galaxy map freezing my mouselook view staring at the panel on my left (eventually overcome by pressing 1 on the keyboard to change view) have made me give up now for the night

... it looks awesome though FD, well done so far :smilie:
 
Interdiction Issues and Advice

Just did my first interdiction on a wanted npc ship, a Lakon 9, in my new Cobra, with upgraded military grade bulkheads, and I collisioned so hard with the Lakon 9 right after dropping both out of SC that my Cobra had only 45% hull left straight away :eek::D Maybe I have to slow down before the interdiction finishes next time?

I also got a 200 cr bounty on my head, not sure if for the interdiction itself, or for shooting the hauler, which was wanted in that federation system btw!

Could other commanders please share their first experiences with interdictions?

even the bugbear I had about the ickle crosses as stars in the background has been sorted to a much more pleasing and pretty oh so pretty version of stars with some starry warm natural looking fuzzyness...

A huge thank you for fixing up the FA-off - I can now launch out of station and then go FA-off with a natural feel (no soupy/sticky slowdown), turn and look back at a station while as I drift way to plan my jump or wait to get out of mass lock to jump in to SC or hyperspace

wonderful - I was in shock with beta2 and hardly played it what with some of the show stopping bugs and flight changes to fA-off

i'm sure there are some bugs lurking, but in the little jaunt in the sidewinder from Eranin to Aulin, via IBooties only had major stuttering in hyperspace.
beta 2 would get me stuck there way too much.

Generally quite happy - only tpemered with the fact that going to have no internet for a few weeks maybe.... a home move and associated problems isp/ bt openreach and property developer not all set up yet eeek.

Yes , you are not alone I got this also and I bet there are others with this issue... I can enter the game but after 10 sec I get this "Server Error" message.
 
Oh wow. I was on approach to Chango Dock when I had to stop and stare at Chango for a good 15 minutes. Just jaw-droppingly beautiful, well done.
 
Just thought id come here to post a massive +1 to the devs on beta3!

Little things they have done/added/changed to polish from beta2 are greatly appreciated. The station services menu is now 100x more awesome little improvements to the ui menus in the ships. fixed the gamma (overall too brightness of game- i didnt have the wierd shader problem btw) ship purchasing menu is awesome now. little things like when in open play mode, press escape and it tells you if the server has changed to solo mode or still in open play (good if your like me in aussie land and internet isnt awesome)
 
Things I discovered in 3

Well they moved the stations around in stars away from the core systems. Curses you <shakes fist>!

But I did just score a 177k mission! booyah. But it had a 86k penality. Now that is the way risk reward should work! I got the job done.

Wow, systems are a lot more cluttered. Lots of stuff to go see.
 
Constant disconnects, even in Solo mode. So let me get this straight, if your servers are crapping out, then I can't play AT ALL?
Last time I checked, games like Simcity, Diablo III, Anno 2070 and every other Ubisoft game has had a massive uproar over it's use of always online DRM.
So why is it that no one is stirring up the pot when it comes to this game? Have people already caved in to developers and publishers about this type of system?
Elite has always been a single player game, the fact that we can't play the game at all if the server is having issues is quite ridiculous.
There needs to be a single-player mode with no connection to the server, that doesn't transfer anything over, similar to the old open/closed BNet.

Relax, there will be an offline mode for you in the final version.

edit: But than you will miss the dynamic market simulations and events.

Now I've finally downloaded the game. Must say, its an awesome experience so far. Lots of players about, I've tested interdiction which I really like - even against players. What a patch!
 
It's frustrating knowing that most players are able to get in while I sit here unable to stay in game for more than 5 seconds before it kicks me out. Ugh...
 
Have hardly played so far but love the station UI and the way it works in combination with the ship UI panels. Excellently done. Also the lighting/gamma seems fixed, which I am very thankful for. It was horrible.

Seems a bit smoother so far though I haven't yet dared turn crossfire on (any better?).

Can't play at all.

The Main menu is diplayed but control is not handed over to the game so that mouse clicking a menu option activates the desktop icons underneath.

No combinaton of keys gets me out of game, so can only pull the plug to shut the computer down.
