Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

Planetary environments in Starfield are mostly very nice. I have taken a lot of screenshots, too.

This picture is from September, when I was still wearing a calibrated liquid-cooled space trucker space suit. My character's background is a long hauler, so the suit must be familiar to him.

If you like big game hunting, Starfield has practically an infinite amount of that on offer.

Remember ED and big game hunting, what happen to that :) if I should say something, it would be my perfect game would be ED + SF, the space and flight mechanics in ED are just almost perfect, yes I would like an autopilot but that's just QoL, if SF got a better space interaction and we could ride an alien horse on the planets it would be awesome, and if you look in the ship/outpost builder there is a possibility to keep animals' in captivity.

The space trucking has been hard as it require a lot of materials and you need to find it, anyone got a job where you need to haul a lot of stuff from A to B in the game without you need to source it?

The game certainly has its moments;

It can be quite a trek from the landing site to the next biome, frequently through the night, potentially full of giant man-eating things. So when the sunrises you get that "I've made it" moment.

I don't remember any discussion about big game hunting in ED. I got to know ED exists on May 23rd, 2020, when it was on a 50% discount in the PlayStation store. I watched the trailer video on ED:s store page, then bought it for my PS 4 Pro. I tried it for two hours and liked it a lot. Then I checked if the game is available for PC, and made a search in the Steam store, and it was there on a 75% discount! I'm disappointed with the Steam store because it never voluntarily offered Elite Dangerous to me.

I have not looked at outpost building yet, but maybe I should try to build one. I wonder what is the most lucrative product an outpost can produce?

You can get cargo hauling missions from a computer terminal (not a mission board) at the Taiyo Astroneering HQ in Neon. I just noticed them there but didn't take any, because at that point I didn't have much cargo capacity in my ships. Now I have a captured Spacer Jackal ship, which is technically the same as the Ranger. It's cargo capacity with my skill set is a rough 1900 kg. That could work as a cargo ship.

Ahh but there was so many thing we would see in ED if we believed the sales pitch we were given, just trust me on this on, it was very clear that big game hunting was a thing, anyway back to SF i got 6000 kg in my hauler so maybe I will check it out, I got one mission from a ship yard but I had to source it all 4000 kg Aluminum and I stopped taking more jobs after that one.

I think you may want an organic farm / ranch for chems and meds. The resources mined are endless so in the end your limit is just the vendor's credit and your cargo space.

Personally I found the outpost building rather bland compared to FO76.
A lot of the Youtubers tell you to produce Adaptive Frames, but they take a few resources close together, a lot of infrastructure and make 3 creds a piece.
I just have some gold autominers which are a lot simpler and make 3 creds a piece.
The biological stuff requires a lot of unlocking and research to start so I'm only just starting to consider it now and that's for a sidequest.

You get 1XP a piece per Adaptive Frame, too. Only when crafting yourself at industrial table - no bot production. Unlimited easy XP.

it was very clear that big game hunting was a thing
IIRC the only mention of this was when David Braben talked about what he would like to see in Elite as part of its development. Not sure how you interpret that as "very clear its going to be in" to be honest. It was something he personally thought would be cool to have, not ever was this announced or "promised" by FDEV.

There's a lot of the things that players immediately take as "CONFIRMED!" at the slightest mention by anyone from FDEV. People build these expectations and then years later they are convinced it was "promised".

I think players like to hunt. SF is not really hunting experience. It was decent in RDR2. Warframe introduced some clue based tracking and baiting. Players like collecting clues and then sneak to get a good shot. Only to get sprung by wolves who had the same idea, lol. Similar goes for fishing. SF is real simplistic - the only thing you need to do is be in the right biome and maybe figure out where good spawns might hide. Or if it's a good time to hunt.

My NG+ is going off the rails.

Sarah left in a huff and won't travel with me any more.

I have (had) a 200k bounty from fighting the UC when they tried to arrest me. I forgot about all that contraband I was carrying. :p

None of the Constellation companions are happy to see me. Telling them all the truth did not make them friendly or pleased. Andreja barely was willing to talk to me. Only Barret seemed unfazed, but he wants something from me.

On the other hand I've captured 2 huge Class C ships from the UC so far. I'll have to rebuild them to my liking, but they sure are big.

Crazy what can happen in this game, lol.

Atmo planets was a part of the "10 year plan" were are they? I don't have that list anymore, but there was a clear list of stuff we would get "over time'.

One of the problems i got with the space mechanics in SF is that you can't run, only jump away, if you could run down to the planet or moons and hide it would be perfect, that is actually one of the things you can do in ED that is great, the problem is that they rarely follow you and never on foot.

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like I should not finish the main story at all. I want to keep good relations with the Constellation people, and I want Sarah to be my companion, for now at least.

Partially in the game now, no? And yeah, I know there is stuff that was officially part of the plan and lots of it is still nowhere to be seen. But hunting, which you mentioned specifically in that context, was not part of it.

I also wish ED was already a full, complete game, per the Kickstarter and other announcements. But, at the same time, its not dead yet (despite what some people might wanna tell you :D ), so while it's alive, there is still time (and hope lol).

That isn't due to the main quest. You can do the main quest and keep good relations. The Starborn "quick quest" is a bit different and ppl are more suspicious, but that is understandable. Also I think it was made as option for players to not focus on the companion quests.

And then complain endlessly that FDEV don't communicate to the players effectively!
Well i have been on this ride since the kickstarter and a lot of the communication was just a sales pitch, what we got was very limited according to what they told the backers, however I don't care anymore so lets get back to SF.
