Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

Speaking of weapons, for melee I use a Varuun pain blade, Kryx's Revenant is my favourite gun, but I also use an Advanced Hard Target for sniping and Advanced Big Bang for robots and xeno. But thinking in NG+ I might try using the powers more (can't currently hit anything when I try the Solar Flare!)
Pain blade is the best. I don't know why they nerfed the melee weapons so much. They should do decent damage from the start. I member running out of ammo in my first playthrough a lot and then having to try the melee approach. It was painful. With painblade melee felt decent and it's just a type of knife.

The connoisseur uses their weapon of choice. It looks incredibly ramshackle and cheap ass but the mag series is the best.
Ah, I forgot to change my character's suit and weapon for that picture. I was wearing that liquid-cooled suit because that moon was at deep freeze temperature. The Magsniper was selected because I had sniped some strong pirates. It's also good against aliens that start attacking very fast from a long distance. But it does look very cheap, and like an unfinished prototype weapon, like all the Mag weapons.

Yeah, they look sheet, but the laser dot patterns they project are dope.

Have to admit not liking the mag guns, my fav is a normal hard target engineered with a long scope as I do like the reticle . I have Andreja with a instigating Va'ruun rifle engineered so really don't have to worry too much about close up ,🤣

Does it work? You know, all these games I played where the companions barely deal any damage - I just bring them along for the talk and never really bother about their gear. Only thing I did in SF was handing out grenades to everyone for the lols.

I need to come back to Starfield! Only did 1 playthrough so far. Then wanted to adjust my modbuild a bit, but then modding scene exploded a bit and I never got round to making a list.

I need more hours in a day!
I'm new to Bethesda games and also modding. I got fed up with the financial reward system and unrealistically high ship registration cost Vs ship value, so loaded a mod to reduce that registration fee and also one to raise the vendors credit balance according to my rank-made no sense having collected weapons value 30-60kCr and only having vendors with 5kCr balance!

Think I might go without mods next time round, or maybe just with the mod that displays all the system names...I keep having to Google the system locations.

Yeah give her the gun then at least 1 round of it's ammo and you have to equip it in her inventory. I have lost so many experience points because of it 🤣. Betty howser is a demolitions expert (3 star) so a negotiator or grenades or bridger in her hands....... Loads of explosions

Try giving Barrett a boosted Magshear. He will attack like crazy. He sometimes says when attacking:"Yes, I have time to kill!" 😁 Many times he has gone ahead to clear a room of pirates, while I have remained behind collecting loot. If you go with him to his temple, he becomes even more aggressive when he gets the "Parallel self" magic power. He never hesitates with using it.

And Simeon is also good with rifles. Give him a Magsniper or a Hard Target, but also a fully automatic gun for close range combat. You then need to equip the proper weapon for him for each situation.

New character. I liked the screenshot so here it is. I'm still having loads of fun.

All dressed up in Akila City. This character is a pretty dashing fellow. :p

The next big update to Starfield is now in beta testing in Steam. Release notes are here on Bethesda's website. Is anyone here participating in that beta testing? Is the beta version a separate installation and a separate play-through from the current official version?

Do you recognize this ship? This is my enlarged version of the Razorleaf. I'm considering renaming it to Razorleaf Plus. It's a bit longer and slightly taller than the original Razorleaf in order to get enough cargo space, crew positions, beds and also a workshop. I tried to keep it looking like a bigger version of the original. I promoted it to class B in order to get more performance and firepower. After these modifications I had completed the skill challenge for Starship Design L4.

Initially I kept the original color scheme, but after a week it started feeling quite dull, so yesterday I painted it the way it's in the below picture.

Did you notice the external cargo pods in the middle of the ship, those four cubes? They are almost completely hidden, but when you spot them, they look a bit funny. In practice it would be impossible to open any of them for loading any cargo. But the game doesn't consider such things, so they work just fine.

You have really maximized reactor's power output there. Do you have the Aneutronic Fusion L4 skill, and the reactor is Dogstar 104DS Mag Inertial Reactor? Do you also have a high level in the Shield Systems skill?
I've maxed out my shields particle and reactor I think I'm around level 190 ish. Just started on my missiles . I don't carry a lot of junk around ( apart from guns which I sell) so I go for hard hitting and manoeuvrable . I will get my Ng 3 build when I'm on next for razorleaf

I like it!

I've rebuilt the Razorleaf a few times, in my various play-throughs. It makes a great base ship, easily modified to be a real workhorse.

In my current play-through I started by improving the Frontier. It wound up like this, as a Class B ship. Nothing too fancy, but it does the job.

After getting the Star Eagle from the Ranger quests, I decided to re-build it next, and I've been using it for while. I finished the Crimson Fleet stuff with it, at which point it looks like this. It is perhaps the ugliest ship I've ever built. But I like the interior layout pretty well, and it kicks butt in combat.

Ship building in Starfield is one of the high points of the game. It's a lot of fun, I think.

It is, but IMHO Bethesda really need to include the ability to store a partially completed build. Due to various IRL events it took me around 8 hours to build my current ship, while enduring frequent family interruptions, including non-verbal demands from pets for food & exercise...it was a bit stressful!

I agree with that, 100%.
