Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

I'm watching Psyche on twitch right now. So far the game looks good, but it's really...taxing...to listen to her. Not really my cup of tea

As for "professional" gaming media: I've stopped reading/watching their nonsense years ago. Especially the large brands like IGN are not trustworthy at all due to bought review scores and political bias.
Yes, whippersnappers, it's finally streaming on Twitch.

All you had to do was wait.

Thank you. That was a very good read. Funny how given the choice of Sandbox experience, he instantly turned to the life of crime.

Shame about ship interiror beeing useless. Oh well, maybe in the next game.

P.S: It's not to late to refund 100$ purchases and play it for 10$ a week later :sneaky:

As inconsequential as it is, the moment I read something like:

cruising from one end of the galaxy to the other

or the liberal use of terms like "intergalactic" or "galaxies", when referring to a 100 light years bubble, or similar, I just lose interest in what the person has to say.

I know it's unfair, because they might have a valid point, somewhere, but the basic lack of understanding of some of the concepts they are trying to address makes them lose credibility in my eyes.

🤷‍♂️

Anyway, for some unrelated reasons, I have the next week off work, so this will work perfectly! 🥳

As usual, I will review the game myself, and then read the reviews afterwards, to see whom I agree with.😊

Good review by ACG.

Most reviews are between 8-9 with a few 10s. Anything below that are outliers.
Yeah very few like IGN, PC Gamer and GameSpot gave 7/10 - the rest just wanted to score some points with Bethesda which is owned by Microsoft. So big points for them.
For me personaly if company withholds reviews until few hours befor launch, it's very fishy. But with 10$ Game pass i am not really worried either way, it's a super cheap game for me.

Worriesome graph. I am really not a fan of FSR2, cause of image quality downgrade. But seems like FSR 2 will be a must have for mid and low range GPUs.

Good news is: Even at native 4K with all the graphics turned up, the game never consumed above 8GB of VRAM

This is a very good review highlights a lot of the warts in this game as well as good stuff
What i found disappointing was with regard to the tiling system on planets, i could live with having a limited area to walk before taking off to a different tile, but what i find disturbing is how he described the ability to see a mountain while in one tile and decide to fly your ship towards it, only for the mountain to not be there once you cross to another tile as the system regenerates the planets surface. I suppose its somewhat like how Odyssey completely changed the look of planets from Horizons, however this is on a per tile basis with many tiles making up a single planet. Not good for the exploration side. He also pointed out how he noticed very quickly assets such as settlements being repeated. I suspect this is were the modding community will over time generate lots of unique places to see on planets.

Fans of the game grind will love this game. Those who dont like spending hours doing the same thing over and over will probably get bored.

Weapon and ship customisation seems to be an area the game is strong on. Again this is something i expect the modding community to expand upon.

AMD have released a driver update in time for the Starfield release. Up to 16% increase in performance on the 7000 series in Starfield.
Only 7000 series, do they not support 6000 series no more?

Good mods will take a lot of time to make. I only worry about performance on Game Pass for now, i heard they are always late with updates on that platform.

Holy crap so many freaking spoilers the second its available. I'm not watching them. I skipped to the conclusion of the acg review, its not a space game. Alright.

Also the above performance graph is interesting.. i might be able to run 1080p/30 at ultra... heh heh nice (what? with my 13 year old gaming pc).

EDIT: In these cases, i disagree strongly that logical caveats like "no mans sky is from the 60s" to try and warp reality. Has anyone ever denied elite is a space game? Or star citizen is a scam? No. A single player rpg bethesda style is more than fine. :)

The graph shows results with FSR off, not on

I tend to leave FSR off unless my 6950xt is really struggling in some games in native 1440p...which fortunately in most, it doesn't. Looks like 1440p in Starfield with no FSR will be decent :)

You know, I was seriously considering buying star citizen a year or two ago, but then read where it is multi-player only and I killed that thought process right then and there. Looking back, I think my decision was a good one.

Under two hours now..... 🕔

Edit: Under one hour. Apparently, I'm getting too old to read a clock correctly. Sheesh... :ROFLMAO:
