Better mechanics for joystick button combos

Hi.

One of the things I love about this game is that it has the possibility to assign joystick button combinations.

However I think its implementation is slightly crude and could use some work.

For example, I have button six on my joystick toggle hardpoints. But button six + pov left changes my firegroups.

While I have hardpoints deployed, say during a battle, sometimes it will retract my hardpoints while I'm changing firegroups.

This happens because the game seems to identify the trigger for a command on the very moment a button press is detected. Well, this behavior sure would be useful if that button were assigned to only one action. If it were assigned to multiple actions maybe it should have an option for a time delay until a button combo is not identified (for continued depresses, rather than a simple push); OR execute the command on the BUTTON UP state rather than button down.

I imagine this is a very simple feature to code for and implement, and it sure would go a long way on control improvement. Also this could be made optional, for those who are already used to the current mechanic.

What do you guys think?
