Beware hostile Asteroids

Managed to loose a Cutter mining the Icebox last week. Couldn't figure out what happened and just assumed I'd zoned out and got myself crushed between two asteroids. Found out this weekend that's not what happened.

Turns out the fragments you get from subsurface mining move at relativistic speeds for a short while. I was in a Python orbiting an asteroid at about 150m while sub-surface mining, I drilled a sub-surface deposit which promptly spawned five of the little f*****s. They knocked down a 4C Bi-Weave in the blink of an eye.

Cool if I'm the only person in the universe that didn't know asteroids could shoot back, but I'm glad I didn't lose the cutter to an asteroid collision.

'cause the fragments went from being inside the asteroid to impacting my shield without visually traveling the intervening distance (lag I suppose).

Those chunks have always been dangerous and the collision damage is similar to slamming into the asteroid itself at the same speed. Each.
It wasn't that long ago that your own collectors would pummel your ship with them even while you were sitting perfectly still.

It should be already installed...you cant deinstall and install again...btw class 5 plus strong and proper modded shield boosters can make descent class5 shielding on cutter!
But...you wont get any advantage at mining cutter with class 5 vs class 6 in terms of cargo(collectorlimpets are class 5)...minning cutter should have class 6...in cargo cutter...yes.
