News Beyond - Chapter Four - Release Date Announcement

Can't come quick enough for me, apart from comparing issues between versions I have been playing Beta solid since it dropped - who stole my ship and put the old software back on it? really weird to be playing the older game again - funny how quick you get used to something new. Back in the DBX out in the black my old Cobra with decon limpets was fun in the AX zones around Maia, who knows how much of the bubble will burst by the time I head on back in again?

There are at least a dozen ships all together at 0:47 in the shot relating to squadrons; that means that there have been instancing improvements too right?

[big grin]

Great news. I do hope Frontier change their mind about Passive scanning though.
I think it's a bad mistake to incorporate this into the game where people get credits and First Discoveries when the ship finds things close by that they likely had no intention of looking for in the first place. Also it messes up untouched systems involuntarily.

If passive scanning stays as a 'feature', then firstly the messages should only pop up on your HUD in Analysis Mode and any of the discoveries that are made passively should be informational only, thus not counting towards actual exploration data or the ability to have a first discovery off it.
Scanning a Nav Beacon to populate all the names in a system is informational only. So should it be with passive scanning.
Credits and discoveries (particularly First discoveries) should be attained with some manual effort from the pilot.
This is an explorer completionists nightmare as it is now.

I do hope Frontier see sense on this for the live build. Other than this, I think Chapter 4 is one of the best updates so far.

As far as i know, you only get your name on world, when a detailed surface scanner is on board. I guess, this wasn´t changed... hopefully.

Great. What little time I spent in the beta showed me that I really don't like the new system scanner. Probably because it was so intuitive that I couldn't figure out how to use it properly, and I've grown tired of having to research every little function of this game on the internet.

And unfortunately, everyone gets forced to upgrade their game, regardless if they want to or not, so I guess I'll just have to tinker with the darn thing as see if I can figure the thing out. Or not.

It doesn't look like I'll be headed out into the black any time soon though. :(

Will be interesting to say the least.... Just hope they took on a lot of the feedback they have received!
All in All I hope it work s for them.

Me, who usually love the Frontier trailers, I found this one not really spectacular.

Will not stay unforgettable ...

:(

Yes, agreed. They have learned not to overhype (as in past videos) which pointed towards Legs and/or Atmospheres very strongly. They are playing this one safe for the moment.

Hype Train starts again at the next announcement for next year.

Yes we are able to make the difference between a trailer and the reality.

I like spectacular and superficial trailers.

:)

Frontier ! For the next trailer, you must exaggerate !

It is always a beautiful gift that you make us for the pleasure of the eyes.

Has somebody checked if passive scanning can be avoided by turning off the detailed surface scanner?

edit: I just realized that it can't be turned off in the current version. I really hope there will be some solution for this problem.
