BIG TRADING THREAD

In between the occasional high bounty hunt i've been doing palladium one way, 1150cr/t and progenitor cells back 700cr/t, though also fulfilling several orders for random minerals and or slaves in between if i got more than that per ton from it. Not great, but the route is extremely fast I can probably do it in <10 minutes so it works out pretty well.

A little update!

Make now 460.000 Credits in 8-10 Minutes. Found a route with 2k Cr profit per run (2 stations, 1 jump, 10ls + 120ls). So it's totally about 2.760.000 - 3.450.000 Credits per hour. And i drive only a Type 7 transporter...
Whats your profit atm, guys?

I'll add some reality to this thread probably. Many people like me who try to find their own routes other than the ones in trade tools probably bumbled about for a long time getting frustrated.

I spent about 8 hours over two days flying around 400-450Ly in various directions to try to find systems with healthy demands and supplies.

I've settled on a high population High Tech system trading to a low population Extraction outpost.

The extraction end offers Palladium at 1145 Cr/ton profit, Gold at 988Cr/ton profit, Silver at 848 Cr/ton profit and I think I just noticed at lunch that Gallium might actually be around 1100 Cr/ton!
The high Tech sell Resonating Seperators for 1145 Cr/ton on the other leg for a significantly cheaper cargo hold. I actually treat this as the PROFIT leg even though they are more or less equal..

I'm running a T6 with 112 cargo and only have a 2.2M balance at the moment.

The jumps require a 11.7 Ly jump followed by a 12.2 Ly jump, so one system seperates the 2 ends. One station is 20Ls from jump point with the other around 2500Ls. Both seem to take more or less the same time to dock oddly enough, so anything sub 3000Ls doesn't really bother me at all.

2800 in fuel round trip. So I guess it's approx 200k-225k on the loop.

By far not the best run, at all.

I wish I could spot other types of trade. I hate looking for high population extraction stations near High Tech. I get the feeling everyone is doing it.

I'd sooner be able to find Agriculture to Industrial or something and trade in items that don't require 13,000 credits per ton investment to make 1k when other items only require 4000 credits to make 1k.

Not really good enough to find them on my own yet though. The ingame tools are pretty useless for everything except finding adjacent systems. More often than not you have to land on one, buy one of everything, fly to the other, sell it and spot the highest profit and do the same on the return leg. hoping, before you get there, that they have at least one leg with high demand a medium/high supply.

Also im considering dumping 400k on the high tech station to get a Viper kitted up so when I get bored of trading I can start doing some combat in the anarchy system that splits my two trade ends (both Federation space). And when/if the route dries up just sell off the viper for not much loss. Does anyone else do this? Buy temporary distractions when they intend to stay in a place for a while?

Can people please post up the trades they are doing, I dont really care about where they are just what they are.

State the industry type, population level and goods on both ends

Do you guys also bother with any trading mission on the Bulletin boards of these stations? I'm still in a Sidewinder, no shields with only 10 cargo, so I'm not making much money on any trading trips right now. But the bigger paychecks have been coming from missions, around 20.000cr to haul 6 coffee from one outpost to another in the same system and once even 153.000cr for a 6 palladium delivery.

Once you get to 140.000cr per run, are there missions that pay way more than that? Or are the bulletin board offers mostly for beginners like me?

I am currently doing a route taking 216 gold one way and Resonating Separators back, this is earning me 322k there and 289k back.
Distance is 62 l/y and takes 5 jumps (each way) in my Type 7 with a 17.12 l/y range. I haven't really crunched the numbers but i would estimate around 2 mil per hour.

The BB missions for cargo hauling work great to get you out of your sidey and into a hauler or Adder. After you get to a hauler or cobra, the BB missions are just icing on the cake if you and happen to be headed in the right direction.

Once you get into a Conbra, the rare trades become a very nice way to make good money. Rares also work well in an L-6 or an Asp, but it is about even money if you can find a good local route. Here is a link to play with the rares: http://eliteraretrader.co.uk/

Once you get into an L-6/Asp, and don't want to do rares, there are several trading tools out there to help out. Some people consider using those tools "cheating" because your not doing the footwork yourself, but to each their own. here is one such site: http://www.elitedangeroustrader.co.uk/

Right now I am in an Asp, and I do the rare trade circuit. Right now I am on a loop that encompasses about 70 or so systems worth of rares. It is not the most profitable way to do things, but I enjoy it. I also get sidetracked hunting at NAV points, and doing the odd mission along the way.

Another great site for hard core taders is the reddit page: http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteTraders

You will find that in general, people are stingy with their routes, as they do not want them to get over saturated and kill the run.

Thanks for that answer man, have some rep!

Im flying a Type 9 with 500 ton cap.
Advanced Catalysers @594cr per ton = 297,000cr
Gold @1442cr per ton = 721,000cr.
Total minus 20,400cr fuel = 997,600 per round trip.
Round trip takes about 13 mins @4 trips per hour = 3,990,400cr
1 jump @ 8.41ly. 22.8ls from star one way 668ls back.

Took me a long time and a lot of systems to find this trade route.
Have jumped in the Asp a few times and gone in search of a more profitable route, but can't seem to find one within a 60-70ly radius in all directions.
So I end up back here thinking the time im searching im losing money while im out looking. The prices have not fluctuated one bit since I have been here, which is about a week to 10 days.

It seems, that my route is still nice. But i saw routes (not effective cause 12000ls + 8400ls) that grants over 3,5k per ton, so it would be like 5-6 Millions in one hour - If the stations hadnt such a damn long way...

I dont want to steal any routes, just compare with others, to figure out whats possible!

And for all the beginners here:
Koller (Cummings Station) Buy Gold, Silver, Palladium (More capital, more profit!) [1000-1600 Cr profit]
Sell to Gliese 550 (the nearest station in system, there are more then 1) and sell all, buy clothes etc [300-400 Cr profit]

If you are fast, this route can be flight more then 6 times a hour, maybe 8 times. I made 1,5m - 2m per hour with a T7 here. Very nice to get prepared for serious stuff!

Making roughly the same in my L7, 1.5-2 mill per hour.. 216 tonnes shipping palladium, marine supplies and animal meat. A few hop and skips but two of the stops are in the same system... easy money :)

I currently have a 13 ly one system jump route that makes 1.3 million / hr in a Type 6 with 100 cargo. Station A is 20 ls from the jump point, and Station B is 45 ls from the jump point. Beryllium and Resonating Separators.

I found a route within a system (station to station).

Type-6 aith 104T of cargo space

I kept my Shields since I do get interdicted from time to time...

One way I take animal meat and make about 54,000CR
The way back is marine equipment and make about 112,000CR

So about 166,000CR every 10-15 minutes.

Also fuel is only about 36CR per run.

I have a VERY nice trade route ATM.

Gold one way 500T @ 1.7k profit per ton = 850K
Advanced Catalysers back 500T @ 1.3k profit per ton = 650000

1.5 million in about 15 minutes work

P.S. I am near Branglal!!!

I suspect we are shuttling around the same system..if it is it switches between animal meat, coffee and tea as the most profitable exports from planet 9
