Yep ... I wouldn't say no to someone giving me a million (be honest, who would say no?), but that doesn't mean I deserve it. That it annoys me, isn't unreasonable.

EDIT: And yes, I fully admit that I have only myself to blame. I'll just go and stand in the corner now :p
fair 'nuff :)

Fascinating programme on Radio 4 tonight about personal debt, and how borrowing concentrates all wealth, towards the wealthy, the only ones able to lend .. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b066w659 .. It also seems Islam (good Islam) prohibits Interest on loans, because that puts a larger part of the risk on the borrower (so the loan is not equitable). Not sure if this helps Alien win a million pounds .. but it was a good listen imo.

You only lose money if you sell your shares at the lower price. They all hold a lot of shares in various stock and the current value of that stock has gone down. Most will come back to their original price and so will their estimated wealth.
If anything, they will just buy more shares at a lower price and end up being richer rather than poorer.

If the Chinese government knew how to run a stock market and commodities exchange (and let free market trading run things instead of them), none of this would have happened. If international markets were not only as strong as their weakest links, things might be very different. China is Canada's second largest trading partner, next to the U.S.
I won't play the markets, I can barely keep on top of my mortgage and bills, LOL

Bringing this back on topic-ish ...

What annoys me about people who have stupid amounts of money, like Bill Gates, if I contacted him and asked nicely if he'd give me a million dollars, an amount, while a lot of money to me, is to him, like a £1 (or a $1) to me, his reaction/reply to me would be "Why should I give you a million dollars?". Of course that's a very good reply, and he'd be very justified to ask that, but I mean, come on, he's got a stupid amount of money he'll never be able to spend (though I do hear Warren Buffet is making a really good effort at spending & giving it all away before he dies) and Bill's children & grandchildren & great-grandchildren will never be able to spend ... a million would be something he'd not even notice.

In a world where 5% have more money than the other 95%, hoarding it like that, really annoys me (and why I respect Warren Buffet more than Bill Gates, even though Warren won't give me a million dollars either :D).

EDIT: The really ironic thing is, if I did get a million dollars (or pound sterling), I wouldn't spend it either ... but I would spend the interest it'd make in the bank.

But...Taken from this 2015 article in the Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...have-no-use-for-money.-This-is-Gods-work.html

"Gates has put his money where his mouth is. He and his wife Melinda have so far given away $28 billion via their charitable foundation, more than $8  billion of it to improve global health. "

I also seem to recall reading somewhere that his children do not inherit his fortune....way to go dad!
