Newcomer / Intro Billionaire

Quite a new player question here. I have been trying to earn money in the game and I frequent the reddit forums as well. My question is I have only seen people talk about trading, combat and exploration as ways to make money, but then on the forums I see some people are making Billions of credits..One guy apparently makes enough to give away Billions in contest every week somehow supposedly legitimately Am I missing some huge strategy for making credits I have tried to Google this info but I have found no info. I wont link the page because I am not sure of the policy on that here being new and all. Is there something I can do to be a billionaire to. And if it is not legit do the devs roll back money gained like this. I guess I am just skeptical, but if its cool with the devs I to would like to be a billionaire...:S

How does this guy give away billions? The only way to transfer credits between players is dropping cargo or racking up a massive bounty then letting someone kill him. Either way it would be laborious to transfer a billion credits to someone else.

Making that sort of money, would involve a lot of grinding.

People are billionaires from stupid Dev mistakes in the past. They have fixed them now. It isn't possible to make billiions on a weekly basis any more legitimately .
If you have some urgent desire to be a billionaire, get a t9 and trade and trade and trade until you are sick and tired of the game. You can achieve anything you like in this game, but I can't promise it will be fun

Making a billion takes a lot of work. The best traders can make maybe 6 millions per hour (only as long as supplies last, but lets say they can do that forever). So that would mean more than 150 hours of repetitive, boring work to grind a billion. Whoever has a legitimate billion deserves it. It's a lot of work. And before you can start to make that amount of cash per hour you first have to earn your T9 or conda, that takes a lot of time as well.

I know what i am speaking about, i do have a conda, but my total worth is still much less than a billion.

Ok, I have been wacthing the reddit post. Apparently what is going on is. You get a ship with a large cargo bay, go to empire space and buy as many slaves as you can. Then go to federation space and drop out at stations to get a bounty racked up..then let a freind kill you. He gets the massive bounty. Clear your save. Friend drops enough cargo fo you to buy a new ship, and start the process again....This method seems questionable? I don't know if I want to do this anyway because I would have to clear my save... Anyway thanks for all your replies I appreciate it fly safe cmdrs.

So for a ship with a large cargo bay, say a type 6, they would need over 1 million credits plus enough to fill it with slaves. So the 2nd step in that process the guy who cleared his save starts in a sidewinder and player 2 keeps dropping him cargo to the value of over 1 million Cr.

I'd rather play the game.

I don't know as long as fd doesn't mind I guess it would be ok. I mean this is the second week he has given away a billion credits so it must be ok to do. I may have to try it. Seems like a boring way to make money but, trading is also a pretty boring way to make money, and if the payoff is in the billions of credits it may be worth the effort. Seeming as you would only need to pull this off once to get whatever you wanted...

I was flying through SOL the other night and decided to stop and take in the view of earth when I noticed a squadron of flying objects - hmm. Mosey'd on over to see what was going on and was greeting by a herd of pink pigs with wings.

Just cos I posted it doesn't mean it happened.

You seem a good sort of person. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

And hey, if there were flying pigs in this game it makes sense they'd be part of the Federation.

Wow. Another "I'm new, and I want all of the end game uber credits and ships." thread. I don't want to play and earn the cool stuff in this game, I want to exploit and cheat. Why don't you just ask FD for a "I win" button, so you can press it until your fingers wear out.

Whatever; go find a buddy, and exploit to your hearts desire. Then when your tiered of that, go find another game to post on their forums "I want, gimme gimme gimme now!"

Here's my exploit tip- You can earn millions just learning, taking notes, and playing the game.

Maximizing my earning potential = I should uninstall the game and just say I played it... How does this make any sense. Certainly there would be fun things to do in the game with a billion credits?? Regarding the pigs if you post a screen shot and testimony from other people including video I will have to come over and hunt some pigs with you :) but i need a sol permit :(

Whoa! Sorry if i ruffled your feathers there I havent seen anywhere that this is a exploit if it was wouldn't they be banning people?? I don't see how IF it is allowed being any different then grinding rares all day just faster anyway I didnt mean to come off as having a give me everything now attitude, but I like to try to maximize my income like I would imagine anyone would. Also i will do some more searching if its not ok to do I won't do it. Fly safe cmdr. Murdock

Nope you have convinced me. I'm on board. If you go and get yourself that Billion Cr bounty then we can arrange to meet up and I'll claim it. I promise (cross my heart) that I will then meet you somewhere in my anaconda and I'll sit there for a few days dropping half a billion in cargo for you to scoop in your new sidewinder. No problem, I'm good for it. Ask anyone. Honest John they call me.

I do think this is a bit of a flaw in the bounty mechanism - I can run up a huge bounty, he kills me, shares the bounty with me, profit. To me, that's more of an exploit than gameplay.
For me, if you're bounty-hunted and killed, then you pay (at least) part of the bounty; it shouldn't all come from the authorities.

Any kind of gameplay that encourages deliberately dying repetitively needs to go, IMO.

Wow you guys need to relax. I decided to farm bounties instead of palladium for my bro to help him as they are too dumb to have credit transfert (something you can do with your cellphone since 2013). I get about 75% of what I would farm with my type 9, but that's the only way to transfert it quickly ATM. Get a life and stop the hate.

It certainly sounds like an exploit and I imagine if people keep doing this the ban hammer will catch them eventually.

The real question is why. There is a perceived notion that having the most expensive ship means you are the most powerful in the game but it's really not the case. If someone grinded (exploited) in this way all the way to an Anaconda then they would have no real combat experience and be taken out quite quickly by someone in a much less expensive ship (<1M) who has put the hours into combat mastery.

Expensive ships will not make you stronger if you don't know what you're doing.

My advice. Slow down, take a 3-4wk trip out to the far reaches of the galaxy, explore the sights, scan everything and you will come back to millions of credits for your data.
