I think it'd be nice to be able to re-bind the "hidden" keybindings eg;turn off hud/dash, FPS counter and network activity monitor.
I'd love to be able to turn off my HUD/dash at times, to better take in a sweet view, but I use alt and cntrl as throttle controls which I think disables them for the hidden bindings (it works again if I un bind my throttle from alt and cntrl).
Further, I think that both the network monitor and the HUD disabler could be worked into in-cockpit controlled items; the network monitor if activated via the function panel or key(s) press, could become a new kind of sensor/scanner on the HUD, displaying network activity much like our ships heat signature is displayed. Maybe on the left side, near or around the on-target nav ball thingy. It'd be a neat way to integrate something that many people find useful in high CMDR traffic areas into something that works within the framework of the game. Call it a "System Activity Monitor" or some such, system meaning the star system the cmdr is currently in.
Turning off the HUD could be achieved either through a re-bindable key(s) or through the function tab.
I also think having control of interior and exterior "ambient" lights on ships would be nice (the two lights on either side of the Asp's cockpit, what look like fluorescents in the Anaconda's cockpit ceiling and the small spotlights running down the top of the Python for example) but that should probably be another thread.
