Binoculars/telescope/spyglass

Something used by explorers for ages. The tool used when you go "what's that in the distance?"

We have on foot gameplay and personally I'm a fan. Between exobio and the scanning systems for celestial bodies we have now, exploring is nice.

But while doing exobio I'll jump on my ship to get a better view and consistently find myself wanting a spyglass to see something in the distance.

Fdev, give me a spyglass!

There is workaround. Make a sniper riffle with zoom, works as half of camera view zoom.

Yeah I mean we could try doing something about the render distance while we're at it... I don't think anyone thinks that Aleiodea showing up as a cluster of black wedges and popping in as green fronds all at once looks good.

This is an evergreen. Pops up every now and again because it's a sensible QOL improvement.

Yes to binoculars!

Regardless of if biological or geological features get rendered, i am really missing a zoom function provided by the helmet. Even if, for the time being, it is only to pick out details of the landscape, it would be really helpful already. What is an explorer without a telescope, be it physical or digital?

Ships and SRVs could have a deployable drone that you can operate remotely.

I asked for something similar in this topic:
