I would like to be able to use binoculars when on foot.

Maybe with an integrated laser rangefinder that would give distance to whatever is centered in your crosshairs?

If you could use them to set waypoint markers for people you're grouped up with, that would be even cooler.

Yes please in capitals! Including:

• Built-in GPS and Heatmap option with a memory card for storing the Planet Scan data (even if its an Engineering upgrade!) for finding where those pesky bacteria splats are likely to be instead of having to go back into orbit, loading up the Detailed Scanner and changing from the Labia view, phew.
• Monocular for those CMDRs with a scarred eye (nice ARX cosmetic potential)
