General / Off-Topic Blade Runner – The Final Cut: A Secret Live Experience

Blade Runner fans have a chance to get London's "Secret Cinema Experience" of the Final Cut:

https://www.secretcinema.org/

I have no connection to this, just got 20% discount offer as a Guardian Supporter. If you are interested in doing this Blade Runner one, have a look of the Guardian or other sites like Time Out to see if you can get a discount offer.

(If you have not heard of Secret Cinema here is their info page: https://www.secretcinema.org/about/ :) )

Ued to go to Secret Cinema quite a lot (Lawrence of Arabia, The Third Man, Grease) but they started getting really expensive so I stopped.

Did you go to their Blade Runner show? How was it?

No - London evening bashes mean an overnight for me (darkest Yorkshire here now) so I don't go to anything down there much at all now. I don't miss the bustle of living and working there but I do miss the range of stuff available.

I prefer the Directors cut for one reason.

Roy Batty... "i want more life....F....er" or "i want more life.... Father"

Scott wimped out with the father change in the final cut. The impact of that scene was damaged by this change.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time. :) I have the most experience with the Director's Cut I guess. The original was pretty cheesy with the narration.

Heck I even listen to Blade Runner ambiance vids on you YouTube sometimes at the office just for some nice background sound. :)

I can only watch the Final Cut now. No clue if it is actually what Scott's vision was or not, but it is the best IMO. The original with narration is terrible and just too hard to watch once you learn why and how it has the narration. The director's cut is just kinda meh to me at this point.

Incidentally, fans of Blade Runner, certainly ones who care enough to know which version they like, should read this book, it's terrific!

I pretty much favor the final cut these days. imo, without the narration, it's easier to take in and be awed by the visual and music/sound flow of the movie and also see some of the extended scenes and hear original music cues that didn't make it into the theatrical.

Secret cinema is not my thing.

I own The Final Cut on Blue Ray and watch it several times a year.
I love this movie. I love the sequel too. I am very happy with how it turned out.

The only thing I want now is a good Bladerunner open world game.
I hope that CDProjekt's Cyberpunk has some elements of these movies incorporated.

I went to this on Saturday (yesterday). Never been to a Secret Cinema before.

It was really excellent, the atmosphere, the relentless rain, the noodle stalls, the sounds, the characters mingling and creating the dramas all over. As it was the Saturday there were DJs afterwards, till 1:30.

If anything the pre-film experience was too short: They really captured the tension and vibes of the film, so when it was time to watch it, we were like: "Hmm... already? I'm really just enjoying the experience..."

It's a bit pricey (not compared to, say, a West End show or big name gig...), but it was our 20th anniversary so an excellent treat. And my Empire badge fitted right into my "Tanmeer Industrialist" character.

I highly recommend it!

Glad you liked it ... I'm a fan pf all sorts of interactive, immersive and site-specific theatre so I'm kinda kicking myself for not going to this.

Wasn't that also a short documentary film? I think I saw something like that on the making of the movie.
