Blaze your own trail and experience an evolving, player-driven narrative in a 34th century

I can’t believe how much fun I have playing Elite Dangerous hour after hour. I have been playing since December 2014 and each time they update or a new version is released I believe they have given us something new to experience.

I started out trading to make credits for a better ship… learned how to fly and general game features. Stumble across the rare trade routes and made a few million having a great time finding new systems and stations. A few more million came from smuggling whatever had the biggest profits. Many new friends came from running routes with players from all over. Achieving Elite in Trading was accomplished after hours of research, calculations, rumors, and winging up with others. One of the friends I made during trading and smuggling for hours upon hours talked me into heading out into the black.

I spent some of my hard earned credits fitting out a Clipper, 22ly jump range and all the comforts of a luxury liner. No weapons needed, but four Heatsinks, repair modules and all the exploration gear it could hold. I’ll be real with you, it wasn’t easy scanning and jumping for three months. After only a few weeks of exploring, whenever jumping into a new system, I found myself hoping there wasn’t any astronomical bodies that needed surface scans, it was tedious. I made it to a neutron field some 22k ly out from the bubble and just below Sag A, spent a few weeks out there farming data. Took about two weeks of jumping and scanning to get back to a Li Yong-Rui station. Which I joined before I left on this epic journey, thanks to my friend’s insight. I saw some cool stuff and found Earth like worlds and other worlds worthy of my name, but I wouldn’t go back out there again, I would not wish it upon any other. I endured the experience and achieve Elite in Exploration.

The past few months have been a blast. I have been mining, prospecting and a bunch of other stuff I wouldn’t choose to do if it weren’t for the Engineers. I have tried numerous modifications on weapons and various equipment. I have even scrapped “God” modifications and implemented other blueprints. I have been to so many places and completed hundreds of missions just to quench my desire for the next new toy. I have joined a total of three powers just to get their special items and apply some engineer magic to them.

I have Elite in combat now from all the hours I have shared with friends over these years. I don’t know how much money I have given FD, but I know it hasn’t been enough compared to the entertainment they have given me and my son.

I have been entertained for two seasons and I will continue to invest in Elite Dangerous.

Well, I have Rep and just gave you some.

I started playing Elite Dangerous...um...around Septemeber of 2016. I played from September to the end of October and took a four month break to play another space MMO where I'm a fleet leader (I now run 5 fleets).

I came back to Elite: Dangerous early March because I just missed being out in space and here I am to stay. I love the game so much, especially all the lore behind it and how players basically pull the story along by discovering things and not being spoon fed "episodes". Like the OP, I grinded the trading part dealing in rares and a little black market stuff. Enough, to buy my Asp Explorer and fit it to what I needed it for...exploration https://eddp.co/u/L1txLx3T. Now here I am in Colonia just doing simple missions and exploring a bit until 2.3 drops then I'm off to Beagle Point and back.

When I first headed out to Colonia I scanned every single thing in each system I went to, averaging about 7-10 systems a day: http://inara.cz/cmdr-logbook/40600/13897. I then of course needed to speed it up because I just wanted to get to my desination, so only looked for ELW.

I love how this game has very little to no time-gates and is not pay-to-win and I hope it remains this way. I'm more than happy to drop $5-$10 every now and then for ship paint jobs, kits, lazer colors, suits, etc. to support the game and keep it going.

I still have a long way to go and things to do. My plan is to go to Beagle Point and beyond and come back to the bubble through Sag-A. I should be Elite Explorer when I return as I'm already Ranger. Once back in the bubble I'll do a little grinding for all the Engineers. After that I'm going to concentrate on unlocking all the permits for Federation, Empire, and Alilance worlds by doing basic missions. After all those things are done, I plan to fully commit myself to solving the mysteries of the games story and lore head on and continue exploring!

Oh and I'm doing all this on XBox One :D

I approve of this. Rep given.

Such is the nature of this forum that I fully expected the title to be sarcastic and to find yet another whinge-fest.

What a pleasant surprise. Have rep.

Hibachi.
