For mine, having bad guys in game is fine. But you're wrong - the majority of content in this game, whether you like it or not, is NOT furnished by the players. It is principally furnished by NPCs and PvE content. Yes, PvP is a *part* of the game, and with that come people who want to play the bad guy - but you do realise that that includes playing the bad guy against NPCs too? And that PvP is actually quite a small part of the game overall? It's not all about just targeting other players exclusively. We don't *need* bad guys as you put it, but they do add diversity, I'll grant you that - but bad guys who think that other players are there solely for his/her enjoyment? Not for one second. It creates a toxic environment in the game, and at times here on the forums - yes, as you put it yourself, it's just a game, but for the enjoyment of all rather than a subset who get off on ruining other people's day (if you think that's fun for the *victim* you're sadly mistaken - but it's ok for you to get your jollies at someone else's expense, because it's just a game, right?).
.
For mine, the problem has never been that PvP is an available playstyle, but rather the problem is the selfishness of a subset of the PvP crowd who seemingly think it's all about them and that other players are to be *used* for their own enjoyment.
.
And let's not forget that this crowd is exploiting the fact that the game presently has woefully inadequate consequences for attacking a clean CMDR in policed space. Play the bad guy all you want (I won't deny you playing your way) but you can't deny that you have it pretty darn easy given you pretty much suffer no consequences for ganking (or griefing, seeing as you yourself have used the term) some defenceless trader who subsequently loses the value of his/her cargo, has to pay insurance (a high cost depending on the ship), has lost time (which has a value to that player) and often won't have fun in the process......all for your jollies? And you want *us* to think we *need* you? When the consequences for your actions are almost entirely felt by your victims? Give me a break......
I bet it is full of beef jerky and bacon!Oh no, this thread is going to explode...

I sit on both sides here, I have been attacked & I only attack much stronger ships (& pilot must be at least 'expert') or wings of equivalent strength ships..before the Vulture tonight, I was stealth stalking a FAS & Vulture in a HazRES in LHS 3505..was that you? Decided against it because I had over 1m in bounties to claim..probably would have died, but it would have been glorious..& they are only credits, right?
Credits are so easy to come by and all of this is just fun, enjoy it..it isn't real life - some of you complainers need to get a grip! The only thing is - don't gank!..that is a waste of time for everyone & I totally understand people hating those cmdrs! It is those muppets who are forcing people into 'Solo'! I truly believe most players welcome a fair challenge, even if they were not looking for PvP!
Hello. I'm a griefer. Or rather what this community has come to call a griefer.
What I am in fact is a bad guy. I have bad guy friends and we do bad guy things. We have a wide variety of reasons we do the things we do. But really it comes down to us being "the bad guys". The game needs us. You don't have to like us, hell you shouldn't like us.
But you do NEED us.
This is a game. Remember in donkey kong how the monky would cheer you on as you climbed a ladder to say hi to the princess or Mario Kart, where everyone politely let you pass on the left so you could safely reach the finish line, or maybe God of war where kratos and Aries held hands and sang kumbya.
The content of this game is furnished by the players. If something is lacking stop ing to FDev and do something about. Form a player made answer to the bad guys. A coalition of groups that answer when "the griefer signal" is shining in the sky.
In in short please stop making posts complaining about different game mechanics to combat bad guys. Get some friends together and go kill us. It's fun for both sides that way!

i hunt them down every day/most CG, the problem is SDC have set a precedent that killing people at CG's just because its a CG is acceptable kinda hard to fight a full instance of terrorists when your the only good guy
I think you misunderstand. We will not give them what they want. We will fight CMDRs who are a blight on the community. We need bad guys not players who kill for no reason. They need us more than we need them if they claim they really want at least somewhat challenging PvP.
Excellent. Now hunting bad guys is kind of like hunting game... you gotta lurk in the shadows. Wait carefully. Look for the sick beast that is trailing the herd. And then... when they aren't looking, when the other animals are busy... you pounce and then vanish in the dark.
