Blender...

I have created a quickstart blender tutorial for blender 2.7 some time ago that was especially targeted to ones who considered blender being too hard for first steps in 3d.
Unlike Blender Guru and other artistic blender tutorials this shows the most straight forward simple, quick and dirty(!) way to create simple objects with blender:

The tone in it is very sarcastic, I think it's also suitable for deaf persons since the spoken words are mostly in it to make it a bit entertaining. I also tried and when I remember managed to do everything without using a keyboard shortcut.

Please note that the very special steps to make the object compatible with the Thememaker Toolkit afterwards are of course not included (I hope you don't find it inappropriate that the objects ends in a different roller coaster simulation software [mouth shut]).

I'm planning to create another similar one soon for blender 2.8.

But i was proud of myself when i finally "graduated" his tutorial and produced my very first scene as a complete and utter noob to the Program. It is a very good feeling.

That's an impresive render, congratulations! I tried to follow his tutorials but I got tired of his talking and gave up in the 4th part. [haha]

I want to brink back the arcade machines I worked in RCT3 but unfortunatelly my hard drive crashed and I lost most fo the stuff I did. So I'm planning to recreate them again.

It would be nice if we could create a post to add simple guidelines and tips for the ones that will be using blender. [happy]

Followed the mug tutorial. I got my mug nice, with exception for that there's a strange division of lights/texture whatever along a circle level with the upper handle part. It is still visible in the render. oh well.

It was interesting to learn to make path and then add a bezier circle to follow the path.

Here it is!

Now I can make cups of different kinds! and vases! And simple mushrooms! :D

A+. I loved this video It was great and I did learn something while laughing at myself. Because that was the way I had been thinking about Blender. [up][up][haha][haha]

Now I have made the alarm clock! This is fun.
Now I need to find another tutorial author because I feel I want to focus more on game assets and less about super high resolution renders. :)
Plus I would like to learn how to make things symmetrical. Like flower petals around a flower, bunny ears, etc.

Also, learn how to make for example a surface curved following another surface. Ah, bad example. Imagine big eyes with extended bevel, but following the surface of base structure.. ehh. nevermind. Bad at explaining.

And of course the whole obstacle of actually make something that will work as game asset. With everything that will be involved. Textures, etc etc whatnot.

Did you try the "mirror" modifier ? [happy] Just create an empty, then select your real object, then go to modifier tab and select mirror, in the parameters select for the mirror object the empty. Your object will now have a mirror copy, the empty acting as the mirror. If you edit your object, it will affect the copy too.

Don't forget to practice low poly modeling. That mushroom is a good example, nice job Helena! These ultra smooth renderings are quite lovely tho, it's fun seeing people learn 3D modeling! [big grin]

Thank you for your help

Hey ! So here how it should look in Blender (example : Cube_L0, Cube_L1, etc...) :...

Thank you for your help. I have progressed further than I would have without your help and I've come to an impasse.

I guess I'm trying to run when I should learn how to walk.

With your help I got rid of all the errors, and it queued up the build (after I had to fix the scaling, which the errors were quite nice).

After it queued up it failed
TMT Failure.png

Don't get me wrong, I usually have had multiple errors and I thought I knew what the problem was. I resized my images that I had from 300x300 pixel to 256x256 pixel and ran again - no luck

Then I removed all the extra things that I really didn't need and went with just the BC, AO, and F1 images and I got the same error.

Here is the much more simplified ZIP file if anyone wants to take a look and let me know what I'm doing wrong.

I need to take some classes in Blender to really learn how to use this, but I would like to get this proof of concept completed successfully.

Thank you inadvance - I'm trying to remember what I did, so I can reproduce it again. [up]:kingcoaster:
