Blocking a landing pad?

I have searched and searched to no avail. I'm sure someone has pointed this out, but just in case no one has, here goes.

There is a tiny bug, noting major, just kind of annoying but it could lead to ship destruction. Sometimes the traffic controllers think you're blocking a landing pad when you aren't. See video below.

I'm over no pad when it happens. The only pad close to me is the one I am assigned. How do I block my own pad when the time allocated for landing has not expierd? What gives? Is it a bug as I suspect?

FD had to nerf passenger missions first...

May or may not get fixed then return in future updates/patches

And then there's always Beluga mating

To me it seems you descent quite early.
The position dot is far below the rectangle in your HUD.
It happens that you will get a warning then, especially with a large hulk like the T-9.
Is there a landing pad in front of yours?
Your tail might have been hanging over the neighboring pad or control tower in that case.

In any case there is very little chance of getting in any trouble that way.
It happens to me too. I like to do a low approach myself for scenic purposes, and sometimes when my pad is in the back I get multiple warnings. I ignore them, because I am just passing by.

You'll get that on the bigger ships, definitely T9 & T-10. Your rear end is hanging over another pad, and you are way too low. The system is sensitive, however you are technically blocking pad 16 in that video.

Always remember that you have almost 500ft worth of ship behind you. Also at the bottom of the scanner you have an altitude reading in Meters when in close prox to a pad.

Yeah I've had this even when my pad's been at the very front of the station and I've come in straight from the letterbox, I regularly get it around the middle, when no landing pad behind me is in use.

It'd make sense if a pad was about to be used for incoming traffic, or a ship was exiting, but it doesn't. It also happens much closer to my designated pad than any nearby, and I mean like my ship could have a part within the box and I'd still hear that popup. Always found it odd.

I should clarify, that I don't vertically descend like the NPC's, I sort of swoop down, kinda like a current plane would. But still, landing pad not in use=no infraction? Is how it should be.

I've had NPC's flying underneath me, while I'm descending to my pad using the autopilot....wonder if they got a ticket? Lol.

That said, I've had the odd, seemingly incorrect warning in the past too, though it was often in one of the larger ships. Not playing in VR, perhaps my perception was a little off.

I do however, and far more regularly, get loitering warnings when leaving a stations - invariably just as I'm flying through the letter box I get told I shouldn't be there. Is there some other way out of the station I'm missing here? lol.

On some of the newer interiors that have pools and parks in them, there USED to be a landing pad there. I still get the occasional ding from ATC for blocking a pad that SHOULD be there but isn't (because there's a statue there now).

you are just to slow, it takes you to much time to pass - so you get a warning or a fine in the end

I agree with the general consensus. It is not your pad that you are encroaching on, it is the one below you massive ship at the time. The pad before yours.

Really? Not more than 10-15 seconds has passed since I left my pad, with well over 4 minutes remaining on the counter. Hardly too slow!

That said, it'll usually happen when I have to follow another ship - NPC - out, though I'm still out with 4 minutes to spare. Seems the game doesn't actually adhere to its own timer. If I'd stopped in or near the letter box, fair enough, but considering I'm usually travelling at 75% of the max permissible speed, the warning is bogus.

nunu
you can stay inside station all 4 mins, no problem

but not in mailslot

I get that, but I get the warning within a second or two of passing through the slot - I might be just going through it, or indeed I may have just left it, yet the warning occurs. Not often, but it does happen. Could be some weird server thing so it thinks I'm stopped but I'm not. Dunno.

You definitely don't want to lollygag as you're going through the slot. I recommend no slower than 70mps through the slot in a big ship, although I usually hit it at 90 in my T-9. I was doing 60 through the slot once in that cow and I got the warning. After that, I always go through the mail slot as fast as I can (without speeding).

I get that too; I know the reason as Raino mentioned; but still, that loitering one is a bit stupid; I'm flying under the speed limit, what more do they want? :p

This happened to me yesterday, landing at Jameson Memorial in Open.

I was about to land with my Cutter in my asigned pad when I got a loitering warning...

Up again and head down just to look at the pad (I may have tried to land in the wrong one) and I see that it actually is my asigned pad, where, strangely, there is a Beluga Liner sitting... and without moving...

I tried again with same result, so, at the fear of being destroyed by the station (60 m rebuy), I went out, cancelled the landing attemp and asked back again for permisson. Was asigned the same pad, which was still occupied by the same Beluga...

At the end, I had to log off and back on to be able to land...

First time this happens to me... thought taking a screeny but did not...

Hope it helps...

Yeah, if I ever get this bug pop up it's usually in Open, though it has been known to occur in PG; relogging to Solo sorts it out.

Yup, let me confirm that "departure through the slot minimum speed" as 70 MPS or greater. I was getting the same issue with the warning at speeds of 50 or 60 MPS. I stopped getting the warnings if my speed was above 70 MPS while going through the slot itself.

It could be the game; attempting to scare players into passing through the slot faster; so as not to get stuck, by the turning motion of the station. If the mail slot makes contact with your ship, it can twist it and then break its back. Just a thought. Is this just happening with the bigger ships, or is it with all ship sizes? I am talking about warnings due to, mail slot trespass, not landing pad related issues.
