Bloodbath on the 16th

With the teaser trailer rather suggesting that Elite is a space shooter and the only playable demo for non backers is combat, I'm wondering if many new players will start the game on the 16th with guns blazing. Will the first few hours of launch day resemble the battle above Coruscant from Star Wars III?

It will be hilarious to see all the new flyers getting blown out of the sky by veteran hauler pilots! LOL

If they bought the game after watching the trailer, some people will have a nasty surprise when they press the fire button anywhere close to a station.

It'll be no different than the existing game with all the NPC interdictors. The only difference will be that the Sidewinder you blow away will have "CMDR" in the name... ;)

I really look forward to this!

Noobie exits station for first time, targets authority ship, fires. Station and authority ships go mad. two seconds later. boom. thought occurs 'what happened?'. repeat a few times until realization hits.

Its all part of the fun.. I laugh when I screw up and my ship becomes a ball of fire.

Small side story: I had some pirate player in a cobra interdict my cobra last week. Not an npc mind you. We both stopped head to head. Full stop. A few seconds passed staring at each other. We both lit up our weapons... looking at each other in our respective cockpits at close range. I was laughing as both of our hulls were being decimated. Last minute, I cackled loudly and I fired my afterburner in a head on suicide maneuver. BOOM. We were both dead. You don't want to know what I screamed (only my ears heard it of course). Lets just say I suicided and went boom. It cost me some 50k credits to replace my ship, but whatever. It was a short, but hilarious encounter. I just hope the other guy got as much of a laugh out of it as I did.

How many will end up hostile with their starting station and with each re-spawn after death they will again get blown up in pieces by the station.

I foresee plenty of clear saves.

So much yes. There's something strangely appealing about that nihilistic Heath Ledger's Joker-esq grinning at the world burn behavior. we need more people like you in the galaxy. It's what keeps it interesting.

I hope newbies will have fun in their sidewinder together, its probably going to be the best pvp bracket to play. Im pretty sure the newbies wont be mixed with decked out ships, they already are separating people with ships from kickstarter so you can bet your ass you wont be grinding newbies lol

One can only hope, but personally I'm expecting lots of issues getting into the game, the matchmaking server crashing and similar launch woes.

Maybe with my ill-gotten millions (like any true capitalist space trader aspires to) I should hire a fleet of eagles to patrol some start base and just blast away at the hollow squares attempting to flee their doom while I sit back in my luxury Orca yacht and laugh contemptuously... Mwu Ha Ha Haaa, cough cough....

dont forget, unless they come into anarchy systems u cant shoot the noobs without incurring a bounty and if they dont have cargos u can steal and u kill them for no reason then ur just a griefer, pure and simple, as the kill does not even help ur stats.

Lol! I think it's optimistic to assume they will EVEN make it into combat.

I look forward to massivecrash fest as they try to make it out of the space station...
