Boarding ship in a outpost! How? Help plz!

This is gonna sound pretty noobish.....

I landed in a outpost then I decided to take a walk in my SRV to look around. Now I cannot board the ship.

I am pretty sure I got into the hangar I initially came out, my radar inside the hangar show my ship at 83m.

The option to board the ship does not appear. I am tired of this rock and I want to leave lol. I remember the number of the platform (3) but that does not help much since FD could put the docking number outside of the hangar for us to know where the hell is our ship. (or maybe there is and I am missing something).

This is not a bug, I am just....err....lost. lol

How the hell am I going back to my ship that is docked?

   !

Never mind.... I just realized I need to ask permission to dock again.....

note to myself:
Think harder before doing noobish posts.

Drive a few kilometers away from the outpost and recall your ship from the srv menu?

Ah you just reply when I was replying lol.

Nah. lol

Don't worry. Happens to all of us.

When I first started playing, I found a mission to transport something to a Corolios station. The first one I'd ever seen.
I dropped out of SC, after several loops of shame. Flew to within 7.5km, requested docking permission.
Then spent 4 minutes trying to find my way in. :D
I then tried to "pause" the game while I Googled where the entrance was.
Then I "unpaused" to find I only had 90 seconds left. Lol
Somehow I managed to dock in time.

:D

Ah, I remember my very first SRV ride around some planetary base. And I remember how long took me to find a docking hangar. :D Have some rep Cmdr. :)

It seams is a problem to many new people. While I already play Elite for a few months and I am used to the stuff in the game thanks to Elite been the game that follow me all my life since the 80's , some concepts should be improved.

I realized that you do not even need to be at your "own" hangar. When driving in the SRV in a oupost, you ask permission to board and the msg says just to get into a nearby hangar and proceed. While this might be practical it's bad implemented and breaks immersion. All the ships landing pads have a number, in the planets since we have hangars all those hangars should have the number outside indicating the pad number.

Since we already asked permission to land, the logical thing was for us to remember where we park our ship. Then in my case, I landed in Pad 3. I should got to the hangar 3 and board my ship like we always do in the interface from the SRV while exploring.

For me this is much more logical then just by going to a random hangar and ask permission to board.
For people that have a less sense of direction, nothing like putting some sign posts indicating the direction of the platforms, like a sign saying Landing Pads 1 to 5 this way.....

... I had no idea you could send the SRV out from a base.

(It happens to veterans too, OP. :) )

lol...yea

I never thought about it since I first only bought Elite Dangerous. I wanna try the game to see if I would like or get accustomed to Elite style like I remembered since the 80's. Suffice to say, that I was (again) totally addicted to Elite. After a couple of days Horizons came out in a Steam sale and I got it. I rush exploring some planet to see how this thing works. I love it. Then tried the outposts and landed there, pretty cool, very different sensation then landing on a station.

Hmmm.....what if I try to deploy the SRV here while landed? ;)

WOW! It works.

Good that I have always be curious.

Drive more than 2km away from the planetary outpost and summon your ship.
Request docking just as you did when you approached the planetary outpost in your ship.
Self destruct.
Logout, Login in 1.6 you will be in your ship in orbit, dock in a station and log back in to Horizons.

Or just request docking from the station (while in the SRV) and go board your ship where it is (You have to drive into the bay they tell you to).

Why go through all that other stuff?

Either request docking, or alternatively, if you cannot find the dock even after requesting docking and you do not have anything in cargo, excepting materials and data scans, then you can also self destruct.
