You certainly did, and I did read it. The point I was making that whatever you *want*, it won't necessarily be your choice. Since we will also be able to own multiple ships, even if you own an Anaconda, you might well decide you want a Viper too, to take on missions the Conda isn't suitable for, or you don't want to risk it on
[sigh again]
I guess it's my fault for using the Viper/Anaconda as a general analogy when I should have been more specific.
There are many people who will own multiple *class* of ships, including myself, the same way many (American) families own multiple cars, but less often duplicate a specific class of car. For example, my folks have a daily-driver, and a muscle car for fun, and a pick-up for working, and a motorcycle for fair-weather commuting. Some families have two four-door sedans, but rarely have three or four if there are only two drivers. Unless you are outfitting two similar ships with very different hardware to perform specific tasks, it's likely that you'll have an ideal 'ship' for a given set of tasks and stick with that, and have different ships on-hand for different task sets. I, for example, intend to have a ship dedicated to fighting (probably a Viper), one for, believe it or not, passenger transport (probably a Dolphin based on the list, because I think it'd be an interesting sub-business to try out), and then my *main* ship, which will be dedicated to exploration and trading. Here's the rub--if I *think* that my ideal explorer will be, say, an Anaconda, and buy a skin for it, but realize later that the Panther is much better for my purposes, and upgrade to THAT instead, then even if I lose my Panther at some point, I'm not likely to go back to an Anaconda even as a temporary substitute for that classification. I won't ever own, for example, a Sidewinder AND an Eagle AND a Viper all at the same time because they all fit the same mission spec, and it doesn't make sense to shell out the cash for storing three fighter-class ships when, realistically, I'm more likely to favor one over the others. If I lose my Panther, there's a good chance I'll use one of my other ships until I get the cash to replace THE PANTHER, rather than going with a ship that I have already determined is inferior.
Or maybe this is a problem that is entirely in my own skull, being a person who knows *exactly* what they want and doesn't like 'shopping around.' I don't have an inherent problem investing in a skin for each CLASS of ship in my hanger, but what I would hate to do is buy a skin for my explorer and then realize later that there's a better ship out there to fill that task, or, God-forbid, they release better ships for each class in a DLC.
Now, what about the interior knicknacks? I'd love them to be transferable, and maybe even placable. I don't want a bunch of interior swag to be locked to specific ships. There's no way around this for skins, obviously, but the swag on the console or maybe decorations for the crew spaces, I'd like those to be universal. Don't know how realistic that desire will end up being, but hey, it's not *impossible.*
