Booo, Biggest Missed Opportunity of the Year

I totally agree with the OP. This could have been a huge windfall for Frontier, commanders would have talked about it months and Gamming magazines articles written positive articles about it.
Could have been Sagittarius Eyes main story, But No! just thousands on upset commanders and negative articles written.

In the year and half, I have been playing Ed I haven’t not seen this kind excitement over a ED event, 11,000 commanders on the Gnosis for a Month long trip into the unknown, How exciting.

Ok so Frontier made the first mistake by saying yes to Canonn but the could have still turned it into a win with a little though.
Like Jump the Gnosis to the Formidine Rift by Thargoid mishap or Guardian intervention, create some simple CG to fix or get Gnosis back home.
They could have used this to further any store line they have in mind to do so, The Gnosis was scheduled to go to the Formidine Rift anyways.

Canonn has always been mostly a Research and Development Group, Tin foil hats and all that. A group of Explores going out and finding,
documenting and explaining biological and non-biological locations through the Universe. Frontier ignored what Canonn stood for and turned it into a Combat mission
ignoring what intensions the majority were there for.

This had the potential of a huge gamming event told though out the gamming community brining new interest to Elite Dangerous.
Just one question... Is gamming meant to be 'gaming' or is it some semi-profanity? Reading that last sentence, it could go both ways with slightly different inflection...

Eleven Thousand Players on a ship that has outfitting with modules for mining, combat, and exploration. Eleven Thousand Players who dropped everything they were doing in our game knowing full well that it was likely we would be stuck somewhere and we wouldn’t be able to get back for a month.

You had our full attention, you could have done something special, but instead, nothing happened. That’s the most disappointing thing, it all turned into a great big nothingburger with a side of it somehow being the community’s fault. Thargoids are right outside the bubble, we know where to go to fight them.

Where was the imagination? Have you never seen a single space adventure show? You had eleven thousand combat pilots, explorers, miners, and truckers, that you could have dropped anywhere in the galaxy. Told them that they had to work together to get home. Given them a threat to fight and a goal to achieve, maybe even a new mystery to speculate on.

Instead you did nothing
