I dont belive that any drivers can help. Game have to be fix.I updated yesterday and it appears there are new Nvidia drivers from 28/6 and 23/6. Downloaded but not had a chance to check them out yet.
Agreed. Drivers can only do so much; the rest of the issue here is with the game engine itself.I dont belive that any drivers can help. Game have to be fix.
I had an AMD R9 and when I bought a 2080 fir my son I inherited his nVidia 1070.
I have not had a single problem with Odydsey. Only Patch 5 introduced an occasional stutter outside on foot which corrects its self.
move been lucky to enjoy great game play from odyssey - despite the mission bugs right now.
I’d be happy to share the graphics settings XML files with you if you like so you can compare mine with yours in an attempt to discover why your 1080 is under performing compared to a 1070.
my hardware is from 2014/2015 and no plans to upgrade since all games run fine.
Don't look at it, Marion! Keep your eyes closed!Omg this is priceless...! So funny, literal lols. Shame it's the game we play. Or try to![]()
Because of sizes...for example to scan 5 flowers on planet u need to get out/in at least 15 times, 10s per run of Anaconda = 300s = + 5 mins on those in ship walks. While scan itself takes 20s.What I don't get, is why they didn't start small, and first grant folks "you can now walk around inside your ship", then later implement combat. I think a very large number of folks wanted, and expected that option to manifest sooner rather than later. I did.
I totally agree. I would enjoy walking around in my ship for... meh, juuuust long enough to explorer it and see a bunch of control panels that don't do anything. And immediately asked for/use the insta-leave option.Because of sizes...for example to scan 5 flowers on planet u need to get out/in at least 15 times, 10s per run of Anaconda = 300s = + 5 mins on those in ship walks. SWTOR 1.0 had that - move to hangar, board ship, fly there, exit ship, exit hangar... that thing was making angry everybody, so in 2.0 it had payed teleports.
Now in 6.xx it has just map - open map & click and be teleported.
Ship's walks are fun for a week.

It's generally widely known by the core community that many of the heavy-hitter game designers that were present in the early days of Elite Dangerous development have long since left, and have largely been replaced by what are essentially interns learning game dev on company hours.Maybe I'm imagining it, but I have this memory of something from FDev. Maybe it was a video, maybe a forum post, but it was discussing space legs. The gist was: first we would walk around ships. Then we'd walk around stations... and eventually we'd land on earth-like worlds and go hunting.
So I feel like at some point somebody understood the steps. It's a shame that plan wasn't stuck to.
Tried resetting my settings - at first was very cool having 144 fps in space at 4k resolution (default high setting + fidelity set to quality). Landing on the station lead to 9 fps. Some (many?) CMDRs are reporting seeing considerable performance boosts in Odyssey by doing these (taken from my Reddit megathread):
- Nvidia GeForce: installing the latest drivers, v466.47 (UK version here) helps boost performance for some CMDRs. (thanks /u/Scholander)
- AMD Radeon: installing the latest drivers, v21.5.2 (direct link), helps boost performance for some CMDRs. (thanks /u/Dannyl_Tellen)
- Resetting the game's graphics configuration files helps boost performance for some CMDRs. Backup then delete all files in this folder, which will reset all settings files to defaults: C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics (thanks /u/Pyran)
Most of us get reasonable FPS in the hanger, I get 90 at 2k resolution, but in settlements it’s another story: plenty of stuttering with the CPU at max load. Some similar tricks for Update 8. Could be worth a try:

It seemed to make the concourse worse for me - will check settlements later. ofc since one of the steps is 'recreate your settings from scratch' I could well have missed something. Still not convinced most of these suggestions aren't placebo effects, would be nice if fdev gave advice - I still don't even know if I should choose FSR or CAS or whateverThe guy saw improvement in all areas (if still shonky in settlements), so seemed worth a try.
Sure, it’s just that the default profiles tend to have shadows set to off and the FSR active, so it makes the FPS better than it really is.The guy saw improvement in all areas (if still shonky in settlements), so seemed worth a try.
Personally I’m finding CAS with normal upscaling at 0.85 to be a good compromise (with a 2k screen)I still don't even know if I should choose FSR or CAS or whatever
