Bounty Hunting in my new Anaconda is the most fun I have had in this game...

I just can't help myself. I feel like I need to share just how much having an Anaconda has changed my outlook on the game and how much more fun I have had since I bought it. I have well over 400 hours in the game and I have spent the vast majority of that time being a passenger mission player in order to make alot of money quickly and it was pretty okay. I wasn't exactly having a blast, but it was a nice chill thing to do. No stress. No competitiveness. Just go here and fly there. Simple. Easy.

I had done all of that with the Conda in mind. The very first gameplay I ever saw of the game was of someone using the Conda and I knew then that I wanted the game and I wanted the Conda. So I grinded my butt off the old fashioned way and refused to use exploits like Smeaton, Skimmers etc etc and then I FINALLY got my Conda. I was ecstatic.

Then I threw some passenger cabins in and started moving people like crazy. I was making money like crazy, but it was exactly what I was doing before just on a larger scale and thats not that fun I realized. I had NEVER done any combat outside a few signal sources in my Clipper when I first got it, but I decided that there was no point in owning a ship like the Conda if I wasn't willing to put her through her paces.

And good god its a blast. I was worried about me not knowing anything about combat so I threw on a 6A Shield Gen, A buttload of Shield Boosters and then threw on all turreted weapons and a gimballed multicannon in my Huge slot.

and I feel like a GOD

My rank is technically "Novice" now, but I am doing Dangerous, Elite etc etc with no issues at all. Yeah she handles like a cathedral in Supercruise, but once I get interdicted by my target or interdict them its cake. I just point my ship in their general direction and watch the fireworks. I had an Elite mission where it was a Python and that was the 1st time I thought I might have an issue, but nope. I melted the shields and destroyed the guy in seconds.

I had no idea the game could be this fun once you get one of the Big 3. It changed my whole outlook on the game.

Grab a fighter and give an NPC the anaconda you just tag targets and evade till the big guns arrive. Or the other way round both are fun.

At some point i will afford a Cutter for mining/trading. My Vette is exploration and death.

Oh so you're one of.. those... :D

Cutter is the best long range hauler. Vette is Odin.

To be 100% honest The only thing that swayed me away from the Vette is the Cutters ability to carry a BUTTLOAD of crap and its ability to also serve as a decent combat ship while still being able to jump a respectable distance as well.

The Vette is able to wreck entire fleets and can carry small moons in its cargo bay, but that jump range just killed it for me. Yeah I can engineer it, but that same engineering would get me more range in the Cutter while also still having more capacity to carry things.

(Also the Feds are losers. LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR)

Ye should try a wing mission...thatll pucker up yer butt cheeks :p

Personally I hate the conda because of the shape, but I would have similar thoughts about my beloved cutter, the ¨Fried Snowball¨

Long live the Empire!

Cutters are great for kiting 'Vettes to death, and on the off-chance you encounter something that might actually harm you, you can just straight up leave before they get you. Just don't forget an ECM pulse.

A word of caution though, OP, the Cutter *doesn't* handle much like the Anaconda. It's much less pointable outside blue zone and much, much faster. If you're outside blue zone, particularly above, it will not have the vertical thrust to offset its pitch, particularly following a boost. It feels big and heavy and fast in a way really none of the other big ships do.

Oh.

Don't forget the cockpit is near center of the hull, you don't need to huge the roof the way you do the Anaconda to slide through the gate, but you have a lot more ship behind you that you need to get through before pitching up or down.

Conda has superior firepower and also better turret placement options, superior hull hp and is only one second slower than Corvette at a 360° turn when they both have maxed out engines.

There is no resson to have a Corvette unless you like rank grind, like two huge hardpoints and slightly better shields and poor jump range.

My Conda remains king over Corvettes.

You must be john snow..

I started to like combat zones once I built an Anaconda gun platform. I've tried to analyse what made the difference for me, and I think it's this. I've never been able to take combat seriously in this game because of the flight model: it's just a WW1 fighter ace thing which has no resemblance to how I think space battles would be. But once in the Anaconda I was able to use turrets and lazily drift about laying down fire in various directions. To me this seems much more space-ish and I've hardly flown the FdL since. Just my view; I know others like the aircraft style.

Care to meet in game for a little test of your theory? 😉
