Bountyfarming --> real money. Frontier?

So I and 3 friends decided to hunt the two top bounty commanders shown in galnet.
After about three hours of searching I sent the top bounty guy a friend request to see if he is in open play at all. What surprise, he was not.
So I texted him if he wanted to go into open play.
This was the chat log:

So why are private group bounties shown in open play?
And why is there nothing to stop players from doing something like that?

Ouch, not good if true. Well done for finding some truth. +1 Rep.

If it can be bought, there will be someone selling it. I hope its not rampant.

Open should be the only mode. Solo should be a different save file, with no crossover. (IMO)

Just make sure you report him. I have a feeling I know who the guy is anyway... I often see him rack up HUGE bounties in a short space of time, then a few days later he's gone again.

The domain listed in the chat doesn't exist.

It doesn't, but it only took me 10 seconds to find out where he really sells the credits. He's an "<snip>" apparently ;)

also... change the .com to .net and you have a winner.

Nah... people like this guy won't play in open m8. It wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint. They'll be group and solo players only.

Yeah fair point. Stopped looking at bounty boards a while ago since it's kind of a joke anyway so no idea who's actually on them now :)

We need a live bounty board generated via matchmaking when you dock.

We need a solid criminality system.

Then we can have bounty hunting.

People like Derath and Bangfish are legit bounties and they never combat log. I'm yet to run into either of them, but they have a good rep amongst Bounty Hunters in general and I hope to come across them soon. It's the guys with 300m bounties that are suspect...

Suggestion to fix this:

Create NPC Raids, which are 5 Anacondas 10 Vultures and 10 Pythons hopping in when a player has more than 100 mio bounty. It would be harder for them to make money this way. Or make a Capital Class Ship inc to kill the Player. Just make something against this.

EDIT: This should only happen in Solo or Group Play, where no players are able to hunt them.

That would be unfair in my opinion. Look at Derath at the moment. His bounty is currently at 96m credits, but he plays predominantly in Open and doesn't combat log. He's earned his bounty and doesn't avoid defending it...

its edited - thought about the same thing :) just make sure, that players in solo and group cant farm real money like this
