I was going to post this in it's own separate thread, but I thought it would be best suited to post here instead.

Starstone Industries to end Ship Taxi Services by the end of the Year.

In an unexpected broadcast, Starstone Industries has announced it is ending its Starstone Shuttle Services by the end of the year. Intended to assist Commanders with regard to relocating their starships from one facility to another for a substantial fee, this interstellar shuttle service has been successfully serving various members of the Pilots Federationacross the Galaxy for nearly 4 years. It was expected last for generations (if not indefinitely) given how popular the service was, but apparently that is not to be.

“Our Ship Taxi service has made quite a mark among the legacy of the Pilots Federation and we had hoped to continue to do so” a spokesperson from Starstone Industries said during the announcement. “Unfortunately, the credits earned in this endeavor were not enough to offset its operating cost. This is particularly true when you factor in the how much it cost to operate one (let alone many) of our carrier starships that were designed and built solely for the shuttle service. You may or may not know this, but the carriers we’ve used could be easily be compared to Command Type Starships that are utilized by Armed Forces of the Superpowers, such as the Empire and the Federation. While this may seem excessive, the Board deemed such huge starships were necessary in order to insure safe passage for our client’s vessels; even under the best of times, it’s a rough Galaxy out there. Unfortunately, the operating cost of these carriers did not go down as originally anticipated. As a result, we have no choice but to end the shuttle service and focus our resources on other, more profitable projects.”

Commanders throughout the Galaxy were upset with this announcement, particularly one Commander whose identity was requested to not be disclosed:
“OUTRAGEOUS!!! How dare they cut off such a beneficial service vital to the success of our livelihood. All to make credits elsewhere!? Don’t they have enough already?! For nearly 3 years, my colleges within the Pilots Federation and I have used Starstones Shuttle Services and it has been very beneficial for our operations; we can’t live without it. For example, in the old days, whenever any of us had to relocate our headquarters for expanding businesses and what-not, we used to have to ferry our ships over, one by one and at least one ship would’ve been left behind. Once the Starstone Shuttle Services came along, it became much easier to relocate; just fly out to a suitable site then make a call, deposit some credits and wait; before long, a Fleet Carrier or two would arrive with the rest of our ships and we be all set. The news of this sudden cancellation of such a beneficial service might as well a stab in the gut as we will all be suffering from this stupid decision on their part! Whoever decided this was a good idea, I hope he/she gets fed to a Thargoid for this!”.

This Commander is not alone as other have expressed similar views.
The service is expected to continue operating well into the Second Quarter of 3306, possibly to the end of the year; afterwards, Commanders will be on their own. We tried reaching out to Starstone Industries for further comment; so far, there are no replies. We will keep you updated as more info come along.

Update: CEO of Starstone Industries plans to make their transfer carriers available to Pilot Federation Commanders.

This article is an update to the one regarding the end of Starstone Industries outgoing Starstone Shuttle Services; According to various sources within the company, Starstone Industries seems to be preparing to let the public get their hands on their so called Fleet carriers. Of course, they would have to be qualified, in addition to having enough credits on hand, to own and operate one of these giant starships. Apparently, this may be an attempt to keep the outgoing shuttle service going, via outsourcing to the public. It may be an attempt to prevent a total loss in trillions of credits invested in the construction of the carriers. Or it could be an someone’s idea for Corporate to profit from a new bold endeavor.
Those of you who are reading this may think that this is nothing but some rumor that someone made up. At first, we at Galnet thought the same thing. That is until we received an official statement from none other than Gwydion Starstone, the CEO of Starstone Industries himself, who sent us the following statement.

“Good Evening my fellow humans. I do hope you don’t mind if I impend with your agenda for the next few minutes. Alas I felt it was necessary to reveal what our future plans are at this moment. First and foremost, I would like to apologize, on behalf of Starstone Industries, to our clients and patrons whom had made full use of our little Starstone Shuttle Services. For nearly four years, this little side project of ours has had the most positive effect among members of the Pilots Federation; more than anyone could have possibly imagined. Unfortunately, the revenue we have collected over the years were not quite enough to supplement the minimum amount of credits needed to keep the service afloat. We simply did not have much of a choice but to eventually phase out the service and divert our shareholder’s investments elsewhere; preferable something more…profitable.

But fear not my friends. While the service may be going away, there may be a golden opportunity for you, Commanders, and your colleges. You see, these Fleet Carriers, as we like to call them, have very robust modular hulls due to their design and size, with plenty of room inside for various equipment, machinery and whatever else is needed for certain operations. As a result, these rather large (even by Capital vessels’ standards) starships are capable of fulfilling a variety of roles. They can act as a long-range transport for explorers. They can be used as a mobile Forward Operating Base to support a small Flotilla of ships somewhere in distant regions, outside the Bubble. Or some owner/operator may continue to use these starships as their own personal ship ferry. The possibilities may be endless.

Anyway, our own analysis on these starships concludes that the best possible use for the carriers would be to entrust them to various entrepreneurs, for the right price of course; after all, we need to make a profit to regain lost credits. With that in mind, along with a little ‘strong-arming’ from me for good measure, the Board of Starstone Industries have voted in our most recent meeting, in favor of making the Fleet Carriers available to the public for purchase and personal use; both the current starships, and those on the drawing board, if not under construction at one of our shipyards. You do realize of course, that when I say public, I am referring to members of the Pilots Federation. After all, these are by no means toys; one must be fully qualified to be able to operate starships of this caliber.

As we speak, our Corporation is working with officials representing the Federation, the Empire, the Alliance as well as the Governments of various Independent Systems in order to have the Fleet Carriers certified for independent use as they are expected to be used by individual owners and operators rather than as a corporate asset. So far, progress has been proceeding ahead of schedule. Even so, there are a couple of sticky points that will need to be dealt with first.

First and Foremost, would be the fuel for the power plant. While it is highly abundant and has high energy potential, Hydrogen is too unstable and too dangerous for use on such a large starship. While I’m quite fond of such excitement, I don’t think it would be a good idea for something to go BOOM out in the Black now, would you? But fear not for there are other, more stable sources of fuel out there; each with their own potentials and shortcomings. The trick finding the most viable fuel to use. We at Starstone Industries will notify any and all prospective owner/operators what to use for fuel as soon it is determined upon the conclusion to all of our tests.

As for the second sticky point, the carriers are being modified to carry a detachable module that is capable of acting as an independent starship. The purpose being was to increase it’s mothership’s flexibility in operations as well as its reliability as an independently operated starship; one that would usually be operating outside of normal infrastructure. However, due to its limited size and capability, these support modules will be limited in functionality. To counter potential problems with this limitation, several modules are being designed; each with their own different functions. It will be up to the prospective owner/operator to choose which support module will work best for their starships’ operation.

Rest assured, our engineers have notified the Board that these issues, along with any others we come across, will be address and the carriers themselves will be ready by the end of the Second Quarter of this year. Certification will follow shortly at which point, Starstone Industries will begin accepting purchases orders for the Fleet Carriers. Perhaps you could be the proud owner of one of our Fleet Carriers if your purse is big enough, although you should be aware of what you are…getting into.”

Some on our staff listening to the statement from the CEO could have sworn they heard a chuckle as the transmission ended. No further comment was made by any representative from Starstone Industries when we again tried to reach out. We will keep you updated as get more info.

Is it possible for someone to add ignores to your account? Do mods have that power?! I have people on ignore I'm pretty sure I didn't ignore. People that weren't on ignore the last time I read this thread...

xenforo 1 does have an addon to force two accounts to be ignored by each other, but it is only available to administrators, not moderators. in addition, you will not be able to remove any of these yourself. try to un-ignore those people and if the ignore wasn't placed by you, you should not be able to remove it and will get an error message.

assuming this addon is running.

and assuming this is xenforo 1, when it looks like 2.
