Bring settlement online and kill 15 enemies?

I find it somewhat odd that on a Support mission I had to not only bring the power back up and put out fires, but also kill MORE NPCs than on a pure combat mission (oh and I can't equip my Dominator suit either). It was something like fifteen or so, certainly more than ten.

This awarded and impressive 120k credits or so.

So why not do a dedicated combat mission that requires you to nearly always kill FEWER enemies, using a proper combat suit, and without all the other support stuff for the same reward?

Mission balance - especially when it comes to threat level - was one of my biggest hopes coming out of the Alpha. They're still really out of whack.

It wouldn't have been 15, the highest scav mission I've seen was 14. It definitely feels a bit punitive sometimes but then... what was the threat level? Can't really judge unless we know what that was for certain. After all, this stuff is dynamic and adds to the feeling of how these missions can play out. Be a bit dull if it was 100% the same every time.

I did have a mk3 Maverick suit and a mk3 Manticore Oppressor which did help. Luckily I've found quite a bit including a mk3 Dominator and a mk2 Artermis. Only thing I really need is a mk3 kinetic weapon of some kind.

Scavs are easy targets, besides they are a secondary objective I believe. So in theory, if you jog on after powering up, things should be cool.
You don't have to buy shoes for your pax cargo either to conclude the mission.

People complaining about mission variety ... must be Friday ;)

People replying without reading and/or comprehending the post.. must be any day of the week.

Oh I am sorry it might have been fourteen.. not like I said in the first sentence it was an estimate or anything.

Variance should not be this wide. It can be zero mobs, going all the way up to something like 6 (in different parts of the complex, with different weapons, and with small variations in rank). It wasn't a dedicated combat mission, so it should always have fewer enemies.

Threat Rank 3.

I'll just park my SUV outside the power station and swap suits after I'm done looting.

But inadequate information does delay effective completion, I agree.

If it was 14 and it was threat rank 3 then I agree that it shouldn't work that way.

I don't think I've ever seen 14 drop in on a T3 mission though. I mean. It feels like it's a lot sometimes but I've got a lot of videos recording basically every mission I do and I've yet to see this - maybe 5-9 drop in on a T3 mission. There have been some threat 5 missions that were dicey though. If I ever see 14 drop in on a T3 mission though I'll be the first to share it as unintended.

I generally think combat missions aren't well balanced but I think we need to nail it down to specifics.

Not had that many NPC's show so far, but guess its to make the support missions more challenging as its random if you meet resistance of not,
At least it appears after patch 1 they no longer constantly spam grenades at you, but do come across more with plasma weapons.
and most instances they all tend to attack together so end up getting attacked from multiple directions.

only have unmodded G2 weapons and gear so often does not end to my advantage, unless can run and hide so can pick them off in smaller groups.
most I have done have been threat 3 with a few threat 4, but either can have NPC's show and some don't actually attack right away so never know if they are meant to be hostile or not.

It is usually 9 enemies... at least that is what I've encountered doing loads of those... however, as long as the power is off, the scavengers will get reinforcements. So, the best way to deal with it is to have your Maverick suit, sneak past all scavengers and turn on the power first. Once that is done, sneak back to your ship (yes, do these missions using your own ship instead of Apex) equip your Dominator suit and kill the scavengers. Then, go back to ship, equip Maverick suit (if you want to loot), and put out the fires.

I think I ran into a situation where it was 7 + 7 from a dropship in a threat 3.
  • If you have your own ship/SRV, you can change suits/power up/reload ammo as much as you want - as long as you don’t go too far from the base (2 km).
  • I send my ship away, and use my SRV as “base”. The contacts panel tells you exactly what you are up against.
  • Equip missiles, and clean out scavengers from the air. As long as the power is off, no issues with defenses. The base does seem to get mad with you, which is why I always send my ship to orbit, and drive the SRV away from the settlement before recalling it. After using this amazing trick, most scavs I had to deal with on the ground was 2.

What was the threat level of the mission? Any idea?
Disregard, saw it.

This usually solves everything unless there is that pesky no fire zone.
