Horizons Broken missions - info for players

Were these the various missions that Braben was talking about were out there to find and play that players have not been taking advantage of?

I know that in the upcoming Engineers expansion they've talked about paying a lot of attention to missions, so my guess is this will be addressed then.

OK, thx. Maybe it was the 'freight specialist' mission, I am new to this game. It sounds like this mission shouldn't be available for me. I am in a basic sidewinder, I only added the fuel scoop, and I have 4 cargo slots. When I took coffee, I had 2 free slots remaining (2/4) Then, that mineral would also take 2 slots (but in meantime 2 first slots would be again free from delivered coffee) - so even if there was the third stage of this mission, then it's cargo must have been over 4 slots (2 slots with minerals would be again free at the third stop). OK, doesn't matter. What is fun, is that this mission was for about 120k credits - so it would double my account ;). But moreover, that coffee I looked for everywhere, I could also buy on my destination port, so I could just buy coffee where I was about to deliver it... :p

Ps. Maybe I should had think twice when I saw 120k credits - too much money for a newcomer.

Yep, you are right

No problem. Here to help.

From those pics it looks like you had the required cargo space for the second stop. I'm not sure why cryolite is in red. You should have been able to accept that, and then go find cryolite to take to Zillig Works.

It's possible you didn't have the jump range to get to the Mbay system. If a sidewinder doesn't have an upgraded FSD, the jump range between planets is quite low. The default sidey only has a 6.96 LY range, while a 2A FSD has a 15 LY jump range. Take a look at this aspect as well.

If you want to mess around with possible upgrades to your sidey, before actually doing it, check out Coriolos website. You can do just that, and then do the actual upgrades after you've decided what you want. http://coriolis.io/

Sounds like a bug variant. I've had similar where I got to the second or third leg of the mission and the cargo space requirements were too large for my ship. What's worse, as you describe, was that the Bulletin Board interface wouldn't let me exit because both options were effectively greyed/redded out. In my case I was able to exit to the main menu using ESC, go back in, remove a couple of modules and replace them with cargo racks, and complete the mission.

I would have ticketed this but, between the upcoming mission overhaul and the fact that FD have been happy to leave these broken missions untouched for nearly two months despite bug reports coming out of their ears, I figured I'd be wasting my time. :(

Sounds like the usual approach most gaming companies have towards their customers.

Stop buying into early access and make these     s work for their money. ;)

Cheers

Tried my first planetary surface "Salvage with purpose" mission today, 4.5 hrs to find one canister of nerve agent. Finally found a whole bunch with 3.5 hrs to go only 114km from outpost. Started to return to the outpost to complete mission and got mission failed 85km out from the outpost. 1hr of my life I wont get back and for what?? No explanation why it failed so as far as I am concerned that one was broken. Will forget this kind of mission for now.

Looks like a new horizons patch is coming and STILL no "hostage mission" (and the likes) fix... Devs have "ONLY" worked on this since december...

BUT they have released new products/expansions... That tells you where their priorities are...

I am sad that I only come on these forums once a month to check if these game breaking bugs have been fixed... apparently not yet... So... I'll try my luck next time...

Note: It was a great game, even in alpha, but now... bahhh... Maybe Star Citizen is getting there...

come on! This game only cost me £120 so far.
I am pretty sure that Star Citizen with it's damage modelling, tonnes and tonnes of missions, campaign, first person, walking around ships, extreme graphics etc. etc. will cost more, right?
£120 for part of an early access game is not that much right? Maybe quality could be a bit better?
I just hope content and quality will get ramped up because if seasons don't get cheaper then Elite when finished in ten years time will have set us back £600

Elite Dangerous: will continue to introduce new bug fixes and variations on fetch and kill quests as the decade continues into 2025.

I notice this thread has not been updated since feb. Seems like the list has changed. I'm trying to do a 'mission specific' search for trade data. which seems to be impossible. after looking through many signal sources, trade data is rar, and when I do find some it is not the mission specific kind.
Real shame as this is a military rank mission

found this piece of info

you can't just go direct to a SS. go to the nav beacon first and scan that. nice of the mission to let me know that (not)!!

You can also use a Discovery Scanner to probe the system, which is faster than going to the Nav Beacon. The ADS is best for this, as some target bodies may be outside the range of the other scanners. Obviously if you have a tiny combat ship with no room for a Discovery Scanner, the Nav Beacon is the only way to update these missions.

I agree that the mission system isn't nearly as transparent as it should be. The manual (that hardly anyone reads anyway) needs a massive update to cover all these new mechanics. There's nothing about Engineers in there at all. You are more or less required to sign up to the forums or Reddit in order to understand what's going on.

Closing this as there's been a few updates since the last post. Feel free to start a new thread about any broken missions, but much of this will now be defunct.
