Horizons Broken missions - info for players

I have tried to drop into 3 Salvable Wreck sites and crashed to desktop all 3 times. I wrote in the bug report mail option every time.
I blame Windows 10, because Windows 10 SUCKS!
Running Windows 10 here without any major issues. Are you using AMD/ATI graphics hardware per chance?

So pleased I found this post, was starting to go a little crazy thinking I was the only person having issues. Just for the record I have come across most of these problem so can confirm that they are in fact real issues. Much respect Abil.

Just thought I'd give an update. I have edited the OP, but basically, these missions are still bugged.

You can complete the 'rescue downed pilot' mission if you do it IMMEDIATELY after taking it. DO NOT trust the timer, it will time out early.
The scan comms array is still bugged for the one where you scan a security point to open a door to get access to the comm array. Other 'scan X array' missions seem ok.

Other missions still bugged as per OP. Let's hope 2.1 does something.

What I don't understand is why FDev don't just disable all the broken missions, until they can fix them? Otherwise you just annoy most of your player base, and drive them away to other games... Surely this is MMO 101?

OK. I don't know if this is bugged or if I'm just rubbish but.

I have retrieve a stolen diplomatic package. I was given a name and a system and told to go get em.

I go looking, I find the contact, I interdict him, he's clean (so I get a fine) and nothing happens, I shoot out his cargo hatch (no cargo drops), I destroy his ship, No cargo.

Is that one broken or did I screw it up somehow.

That is broken in the same way as the 'rescue hostage' mission. Even when you get the target to drop the diplomatic case, it doesn't get tagged as what you need, so you can't turn it in.

Other than Assassination and basic delivery, are any missions working? Seriously, I am not going for sarcasm here.

I cannot rescue. I cannot follow anyone down using their wakes. Multi stages don't disclose legality of goods or landing pad info...

Even assassination can be flaky. I took one last night to kill a pirate lord, per the mission description. I went to the system and found the target and started to follow him, but he flew (low wake) in to the sun. I couldn't follow, unless I wanted to immediately cook my ship. That was not the worst of it. I stayed in the system, hoping the game would re-spawn him. It did, so I interdicted...which is when I gained a fine and became wanted because he was 'clean'. Whelp, I killed him anyway, since it showed him as mission target. The bounty, which usually for a pirate lord is like 200K, was 400 credits. Yay. At least I completed the mission, even if it made me wanted and only got me 400 credits instead of 200K.

But, yes, the UPS delivery type missions work, the 'go fetch' commodities from a market somewhere missions work, the downed pilot rescue works if you do it right away and really fast, the 'scan thingy attached to another thingy' usually work, but not always.

Also, the take secret stuff somewhere but don't get scanned works, if the system doesn't spawn a cop on top of you immediately when you come out of or enter of super cruise.

The 'go fetch' missions on planet surface also works, but watch out if you are doing them for gaining influence for a minor faction, as they will give negative influence instead of positive.

Missions are a vital part of the game foundation. How have they been allowed to remain so broken, so long?
Dire project management? Terrible development priorities?

That I can't answer. If 2.1 doesn't fix all/most of these, it will not be good for the game.
I'm sure it will. The problem is that 2.1 might be several months away...

It's not good for the game now. I waited till it was out of beta/alpha as I did not want lots of bugs. I wanted to get a nice experience not having to replay through the entry teir missions etc, so held back buying. Now I'm beta testing for them, and paid for it... and it's rather broken? At least take out the broken missions so I don't waste my time. The flight and other stuff is great, so I could call it a "complete game". But missions beyond cargo transport are so broken it's not funny. :(

I have resolved to never buy another piece of content for Elite, until that piece is fully fleshed out and completed. I can't support this.

Hey, today I picked up a mission to buy and deliver some coffee to a station, but when I had arrived at the station, with coffee in cargo, I couldn't finish this mission because then I was asked to do a second part of the mission (not mentioned before), which was also buy and deliver, this time it was some mineral or sth. Being in the bulletin I wasn't able to accept the mission (Accept button was red - mineral was also red), I was only able to open the galaxy map (there was no option to abandon mission) . In cargo I had only coffee 2/4 slots (still after I gave my cargo - nothing had changed). So I had to go to the left menu and abandon this mission. Was it one of the bugs or I just miss sth?

Hard to tell, but it sounds like you took a 'freight specialist' mission that requires delivering to 3 different destinations. You don't know the second destination/cargo until you get to the first one. Then you don't know the third destination/cargo until you get to the second one.

In your case, it sounds like you didn't have enough cargo space to make the second run. If that's the case, you could bug report it. I know it will not allow you to take the mission if you can't dock at one of the stops, but not sure about it checking your cargo space for the 2, 3 stop.

FWIW, with that mission type, 99% of the time, the first and third destination ask for the same cargo and amount. So if you're asked to take 4 coffee to your first stop, go buy 8 or 10. Turn in the first mission cargo, then when you get to the third one, they will likely ask for 4 coffee to somewhere else. Saves you the trip to get coffee again.

Sounds like a bug variant. I've had similar where I got to the second or third leg of the mission and the cargo space requirements were too large for my ship. What's worse, as you describe, was that the Bulletin Board interface wouldn't let me exit because both options were effectively greyed/redded out. In my case I was able to exit to the main menu using ESC, go back in, remove a couple of modules and replace them with cargo racks, and complete the mission.

I would have ticketed this but, between the upcoming mission overhaul and the fact that FD have been happy to leave these broken missions untouched for nearly two months despite bug reports coming out of their ears, I figured I'd be wasting my time. :(
