I think somehow it was. You're not supposed to reboot your pc after an ED patch. But this is not a problem if it's only that.
Unless you are installing things in the wrong location... To be fair, I have no idea if that's what caused the issue.

I don't think there is a "wrong location" unless of course you move manually files after the installation, but in that case I don't think a reboot will solve the issue.
The issue might be related to read / write or admin permissions. Not sure if that would apply to AppData though. Still, turning something off and back on again fixes all kinds of issues and they are not always related to the software manufacturer. Anti virus is another good candidate. Anyway, regarding wrong locations, you can install everything where you want. Having your software in Windows\System32 is not necessarily a good idea though (just an example

Back in the days of 2013, when Thargoids were just a dream, Commanders were faceless men and women, and Offline Mode still stalked the cutting room floor (well, it was more of a twitching kind of mode of movement, but still), the game installed into a directory under frontier_developments/products/ named for the Frontier SKU of the product being installed, where 1000 was alpha, 1001 was Premium Beta, 1010 was regular beta, etc. Nowadays it's just elite-dangerous64.
By the way, now that we've established that the update isn't broken, could the mods maybe amend the title of the post so it stops increasing blood pressure?

Anyone else notice the "Store" from in-game now is all in Spanish, but from Main Menu is all in German?
