Bucket List Animals

There isn't really any specific species that I'm absolutely craving since my beloved kiwi got in, literally nothing could ever come close to how badly I wanted that silly lil' guy. However...

Ducks. Please. Literally any species as long as its commonly found in zoos worldwide. Every biome on every continent should get a duck. I need them so bad. If "duck" is too broad, then I guess I'll go with the mandarin duck.

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't read this a B-L-A. I read this as "blah"🤣

For me, honestly, I'm not sure, but imma say gray fox only because I love them
& thank you for bringing the gray fox to the table! @Orkan I was shocked you didn't go for them! Cute that you have those turkeys around you though :)
I was torn and really wanted to go for the red squirrel but I think spider monkey has a better chance
@Captain Callum I really want highland cows too! Jealous you get to see them often! They always make me laugh

You can have duck 🦆 wak wak

I do want them, don’t get me wrong, but the Turkeys are something I think is more likely, a better choice to please the most people, and more well-known.

Supposedly we have a bunch of Gray Foxes too. There’s a small dirt road that comes off mine that backs up to woods. There’s only two houses, and whenever I talk to them they always say they get a bunch of Gray Foxes. I’ve never seen one though.

The turkeys are everywhere! They come up from the woods all the time and eat the seeds that fall out of the bird feeder. During spring, I often wake up to their calls. They love the rain too, wheneve there’s rain, there’s turkeys.

I have yet to see a gray fox, but I did see a cross fox once

Sounds like paradise :)
In most English cities people see red foxes all the time, and I've seen them in London and Cambridge, but I live 15 miles out of Cambridge and weirdly I never see them here! But I do see hedgehogs, badgers, weasels/stoats, lots of rabbits, muntjac (as we chatted about before!) and other deer, and very occasionally and excitingly, otters. Loads of birds too, I'm in wetlands so we have herons, cormorants and once I saw a kingfisher. I'd like to live in a forest though :) not enough forests around here (again, wetlands!)

Well at least y'all don't deal with gators. I myself never had problems, but it's not uncommon to hear of gators roaming in the middle of a shopping place or in the bayou in Midtown area

I don’t even live in woods, I’m in a suburb just south of Boston!
I do live near them though, which is where all the animals come from.

I love Boston! Cool place. I've got family in Connecticut. I'll have to ask them to take me to one of your great NE zoos next time I visit!
Ooh, that’s nice!

If you’re looking for recommendations, I go you!

Roger Williams in Rhode Island has a lot of cool and uncommon/rare in captivity animals such as Tree Kangaroo, Takin, and Asian Black Bear
Franklin Park has Kiwis and Somali Wild Ass, but not many other uncommons
Stone has Hyrax, A bunch of NA and SA species, and Markhor
Capron and Buttonwood are both really cute, smaller AZA zoos that could be easily done within a half hour
Maine Wildlife Park is run by the Maine Fish and Wildlife department and takes in rescues of local wildlife (including moose!)
Don’t ever go to York’s Wild Animal Kingdom. It’s sketchy as heck and looks like a bunch of animals stuck in trashy habitats in someones yard

There’s also Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, which I’ve never been to but plan on going to sometime in the spring, that has Maned Wolves and some others I’m not remembering. It’s AZA and I’ve heard good things about it

Don't do this to me. Is so hard for me to choose. My top 5 bucket list are secretary bird, blackbuck, rhea, mara and southamerican coati, with howler monkey being really, really close and might even displace blackbuck. Idk i have to think about it. I can't choose one now. 😭

Take your time - it seems we're in for a long wait for the next DLC anyway! No pressure :)
