Buckyball Racing Club presents: Questing on Qixi (Triple Eight Championship, Race 4)

Excellent write-up Cmdr Clarissa and a fantastic race! I would like to apologise (again) for messing around your original scheduling for an August race (especially as I now realise there was a theme reason for that). My reason was that, because my original race idea was specifically designed for the SCO fsd, I wanted to wait until the Python Mk II was available for credits (which it now is). Unfortunately, the preceding races have already given us more than enough opportunity to utilise SCO and I no longer think a race involving long supercruise distances would be that interesting. Additionally, I now feel that the stability of the Python Mk II in SCO would effectively cause that ship to dominate too heavily in the race I had planned and essentially become the meta for anyone trying to be truly competitive. So instead I'm now changing my race which means I could have run it in July after all. Oh well, these things happen.

Oh, and on your "no shields" bonus, I think it would have worked better if repairs had been disallowed as well. Running without shields isn't that significant a penalty if you can simply repair again between each leg of the race. Anyway, no worries and over all, a really excellent race, thanks again for running it!

Thanks for hosting the race, I always forget how beautiful it is out by the Pleiades.

First, a worrying development is that someone has been shipping off explosives to Artemis Lodge. Can't really build a spaceport out of those, right?

Those are purely for demonstration and educational purposes only and not be used on any stations OP IDA don't own or have permission to use on. ;)

Regulation run

Unlimited run

Quick heads up! … race testing is finished in both classes and "Zombaland" is a go for this coming Friday! For any racers looking to move their ships into position the start line will be at Culpeper Gateway in the Glooscap system. Regulation will be the standard Cobra build without SCO while the only restrictions on Unlimited class will be the usual banning of docking computers and supercruise assist modules. Jump range will not be an issue for this race but having an SRV will provide a bonus opportunity. Note that a scaling factor is being applied to this optional SRV stage so that those less adept at driving the SRV will not suffer a massive disadvantage while still being rewarded for giving it a try. Start your engines Buckyballers, it's time to nut up or shut up!

More details and banner art coming soon hopefully.
