Ship: Vulture
Ship name: First Time's the Charm

As implied by the ship name, this is my first foray out of the bubble apart from a 500ly sojourn when I got my Type-6.

I will hopefully report back with success.

This week's entries are no surprise, given the posts above :). First up was Cmdr Kerenn. Having got his eye in with an entry in the Kessel Run, Kerenn decided to switch to the Asp Explorer for a much longer trip. Making a rapid run to the core seemed a decent start for a journey with a stated destination at the fair side of the galaxy. Pausing only to choose a ship name to give some reminder of his own mortality, Remember Phlebas took Cmdr Kerenn to become only the 10th commander to record a time under 10 hours. Well done commander!

Meanwhile Cmdr Crotalus apparently decided that holding a ship record for nearly six months wasn't good enough for him, possibly spurred on by the fact that Cmdr Alot had recently been publishing the size of the gap between the standing record and the theoretical best time. After one aborted start, Cmdr Crotalus succeeded in cementing his position as fastest Python, with this run in Naga knocking over five and a half hours off his previous time, achieving a run of 12 hours 46 minutes (and, in the process, getting the Python ahead of the Diamondback Explorer in the standings...). Well done!

A few of us are planning runs over the next weekend, and hoping to see some movement in the top reaches of the board. I will be making my own attempt at the top Type 6 spot in Deep Blue Yonder - I will of course make the evidence of my own run public here. For all those planning runs, good luck!

I had been intending to do another run for some time with either the cobra or type 7 top get there times under 24 hours but hadn't had the chance to do so if Cmdr Alot hadn't done a run in a Type 7 I would have used that instead of the Python I had intended on doing the run next weekend but I think I might be unavailable hence the run this weekend. If I can manage it I might a try a run on Sunday I don't know which ship I will use yet.

Many hours in. Have watched CMDR Alot's videos many times as it was the only thing on my Vulture's in flight entertainment system. Sanity is vanishing.

If you've worn out Cmdr Alot's videos then can I recommend Cmdr Isinona's videos to you. They're not as funny but they are terrific and there's hours and hours of entertainment there which you're gonna need if you're attempting this in a Vulture!

Good luck!

I've made it! I'll submit my official time tomorrow morning but my quick calculation is just under 28 hours. (not nonstop I slept during the run) not bad for a vulture.
