Bug Fixes & Other Necessary Changes/Updates Meta-Wishlist

Ok y'all, there are so many things that need some tweaks, overhauls, and changes/updates.

This here is going to be the meta-wishlist (sort of) of all these things, in order of priority.

So, what needs to be fixed? What should be changed? What's necessary? What isn't necessary but will help?

  1. Give tapirs the ability to deep dive
  2. Fix the clouded leopard jumps so that it's not slow motion
  3. Gives orangutans the ability to brachiate
  4. Accurate West African lion remodel
  5. Allow emus to be walkthrough
  6. Fix the okapi's walking animation
  7. Allow grided building pieces to be merged into groups
  8. Drastically lower space requirements for habitat reptiles and, especially, the platypus.
  9. Allow elevated feeders to be filled by staff
  10. Raise giant panda species appeal to be highest in game so they draw the same crowds they do in real life
  11. Fix the multi axis movement - ever since the update when you have one arrow or axis highlighted it will end up moving another axis than the one you have highlighted
  12. Adapt the animal market in challenge mode for the addition of DLC animals. The prblem is that the market was balanced for the base game, but not for the addition of DLC animals. As we now have more than double the amount of species we had with only the base game, this issue cannot be ignored anymore: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...courages-players-from-buying-new-dlcs.614364/
  13. Rename West African lion to just lion or northern lion
  14. Accurate Malayan tapir remodel
  15. Allow staff paths to be null paths
  16. Allow pathing to be saved in blueprints
  17. Enable elevated null paths
  18. Enable thinner staff paths
  19. Allow all other apes (gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos) to have brachiation
  20. Male animals that don't need to swim stay out of the water
  21. Do NOT allow Giant Anteaters to be walkthrough
  22. Reduce the space requirements for the Hippopotamus
  23. Rename the African Buffalo to Cape Buffalo, as this represents the Cape buffalo subspecies
  24. Enable climbing for Chinese pangolins
  25. Fix traversable area and climbable slope for the monitor lizards
  26. Make it remember that I pressed to show my favorite(ones that I gave that little hearts), so that I don't have to press 'show favorites' every time
  27. Make it remember that I pressed 'hide blueprints' in a save, so that I don't have to press 'hide blueprint' every time I open my save to build something
  28. When selecting multiple non-grid items, allow as to adjust the 'center' of that selection. selecting two wooden beams and their 'center' of multi-axis movement being far off from those two beams gets me slightly irritated.
  29. I'd like to have some kind of a 'filter bookmark', so that I don't have to activate multiple filters individually when I want a certain types of items
  30. Smaller animal hitboxes. Please. Nothing is more annoying than spending the time to build something an animal should clearly be able to fit in only to find out it somehow can't and you have to destroy half your work
  31. Enrichment items expanded to animals that should be able to use them but (still) currently can't
  32. Add a cheetah run enrichment and general animal feeding like giraffe feeding
  33. Fix the annoying flickering vegetation issue when a burrow cam is actively projecting on a screen in the zoo. As it stands, the feature is unusable
  34. Make elevated feeder usable as an actual elevated feeder instead of having to put it on the ground (related, make it so staff can climb ladders and access enrichment feeders that are on elevated climbing equipment)
  35. Hippo space requirement more similar to real-life zoos. As it is, they are hard to use because of the humongous space requirements
  36. Fix western chimp social systems so they aren't identical to gorillas. The former can have multiple adult males within a family group
  37. Fix the problem with shelters (and habitats) having to be unrealistically large, even for small mammals. I know animal hit boxes are an issue and maybe there's a trade off between this and another persistent issue--animals clipping through barriers and alerts that animals within irregularly shaped barriers are escaped when they aren't
    • Possibly solvable with more 'burrow-like' enrichment. Nest boxes and the like would be great to have, small objects that count towards shelter but don't take into consideration hitboxes since they are animation-based rather than free-movement based. You could even disguise them in walls to make it look like the animals are moving to and from backstage areas via tiny openings.
  38. Smaller rocks and plants available for use in smaller habitats (without looking silly eating up all the traversable space)
  39. Love the idea of cheetah lure coursing/chase enrichment. I remember seeing a feature of how they use these at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park
  40. Better staff interaction with/anticipation of weather. It's frustrating that they fill the outside feeders (for warm weather animals) right as a bout of cold weather is starting, forcing a welfare issue when animals have to go outside in the cold to eat (in spite of empty indoor feeders), or vice versa for cool weather animals during heat waves
  41. Water that can be edited to be "contained" by fountains etc. that are above ground
  42. Viewable burrows that can be seen through glass sides of enclosures instead of just on burrow cams.

I believe so, but he hasn't updated it in a long time nor has he made an updated one.

But that also included free add-ons, like foliage and scenery.
This is more for mechanics, behavioral updates, etc.

Necessary:
  • Fix the clouded leopard slowmo jumping
  • Orangután brachiation
  • Emu walkthrough
  • African lion model rework

Not necessary but good:
- Malayan tapir remodel

Brachiation is something that should be used by ALL apes, not just gibbons and orangutans. Even gorillas move through trees by brachiating:

And of course, so do both chimp species:

Fast brachiation is something Hylobatids do, but every single Hominoid is able to brachiate, even if the larger ones do it slowly and deliberately.

EVERY hominoid:

1) Do NOT allow Giant Anteaters to be walkthrough. They have been proven to be very dangerous and able to easily kill a human

2) Reduce the space requirements for the Hippopotamus. I understand they're huge creatures, but I doubt their land area has to be that big.

3) Rename the African Buffalo to Cape Buffalo. There are 2 species of Buffalo in Africa. This would make things clearer and avoid confusion

I don't disagree that a name-change is necessary, but there is actually only one species in Africa called the African buffalo. The cape buffalo, forest/Congo buffalo, and the other three (Nile, mountain/Virunga, and Sudan buffalo) are all subspecies of Syncerus caffer. The in-game African buffalo is very clearly supposed to be the Cape buffalo subspecies though.

Anyway, for me, there are two urgent matters; finish the Malayan tapir, and fix the clouded leopard animations. The former is more important than anything else, IMO; it's just ridiculous that they've left an unfinished animal in the game.

Adapt the animal market in challenge mode for the addition of DLC animals. The prblem is that the market was balanced for the base game, but not for the addition of DLC animals. As we now have more than double the amount of species we had with only the base game, this issue cannot be ignored anymore. In fact, it stopped me from buying new DLCs since the Conservation pack.
I made a detailed thread about it here if anyone wants to read into more detail: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...courages-players-from-buying-new-dlcs.614364/
