Bug or Feature: Planet that doesn't exist...?

Hi all,

Can't tell if what I'm looking at here is a bug or a crazy feature. I stumbled upon a planet which doesn't scan, can't be targeted, has no entry in the system map, and is landable. After landing on it, my computer shows that I'm simply in "deep space." Anyone have any similar experiences?

I hesitate to post the name of the system for purely selfish reasons. I don't have time right now to play any more, and if it is some plot destination, I'd like a chance to get a crack at exploring it first...

Thanks!

... unless you've found Raxxla

Ack - was hoping it was going to be yet another thread where I could pontificate about the value of buying an Advanced Discovery Scanner, but it's only Raxxla. I'll get my coat...

Was this on the PS4 by any chance? I've seen some oddball stuff happening on that platform. Couple of days ago I had a star that categorically would not let itself be scanned, even though I was <500 Ls from it. When I next logged in (having not left the system) it scanned just fine. Odd.

I have seen many bugs, also once an invisible Reorte 3 where i was driving SRV 'in space' :D
But this one sounds like it really can be intended. Without any further possibilitys for investigation it is impossible to say, eycept you decide to share it with us. I think support should be able to give you more answers at this point ;)

Log out, log back in, see if the behavious is repeatable. Sounds like a bug (I believe this behaviour has happened before). However you may have found RaXXla; bit unfortunate if you can't scan it 'cos you won't be able to claim first discovery! ;)

You don't have to honk for stuff that's close to you to appear on the map, and you definitely don't have to in order for it to be targetable. Plus he landed on it!

However even the star in an unknown system is invisible to the map, radar (sensor) display and nav panel if you don't have a discovery scanner fitted. So maybe the OP had their disco scanner disabled.

You would still be able to see once you get close enough, when we jump into a new system the star appears after a few seconds on scanned, without needing to honk at all.

Although as MalcYorks points out, you do need to have at least a Basic Discovery Scanner fitted and operational.
