Bug Reporting Campaign

Dear Commanders, Frontier,

Over the last weeks and upgrade cycle from 2.0 to 2.1, I've made the following observation when it comes to ED and Bugs:

  1. Loud moaning on Forums/Reddit/Discourd about the actual bug + screenshot/video
  2. Don't bother to open up a bug report with FDev even tho screenshot/videos/description of the said bug exist in their initial post 1)

I can completely understand that not everyone wants to dedicate his precious grinding playing time towards reporting bugs.
What I do not understand is that the energy and motivation dedicated to 1) is not beeing used for 2)

I think it is time for a "Bug-Reporting and You!" campaign which should consist of the following:

  1. Make it as easy as possible for players to report bugs (especially avoiding duplicates) - maybe optimize the current situation, if there is a need.
  2. Maybe add some small incentive lottery (bubbleheads, liveries, ...) amongst the bug reporters?
  3. Spread the news on how to properly report bugs for new and old players on all media you have (Forums, Reddit, Ingame?, Steam?, Xbox?)

Commanders, What do you think? Is the current format a good one? is there room for optimization? What bothers you?
Especially FDev, what is your current view on reporting bugs? Does it work well?

Having filed alot myself, this is stuff that annoys me :

- Finding own Bug Reports again requires Forum Search AFAIK, as these don't even show up in the "Last Posts" list
- Finding out if a QA replied to any of them requires yet another Forum Search, no notification
- Finding out if additional Info or Details are needed requires yet another Forum Search... again, no notification that you're needed back at a specific Thread.

- getting actual Feedback is quite rare, so one never knows what the Status of the own reported Bug is (apart from "being looked into" or "we're aware this is happening")
(i.e. seeing an "old friend" even several minor Updates later isn't very motivating, although I'm aware some things just have to go to the lower end of the list)

I'm assuming you are "anti-email"? When you create the bug report you will be automatically subscribed to it (same as any thread you start) so will get an email when there is a reply. Actually you don't even need to look out for emails as it will be in your user CP so you can see which ones have new replies as they will be in bold etc. I've created a couple of folders for bug reports both my own and those created by others that have affected me.

I've often wondered why I see so many bug reports where QA have requested a DxDiag etc. but the OP is never heard from again.

100% agree. Apart from the "this is under investigation" or ask for more info there's no way to know the status unless it's added to the known issues list (unlikely unless it's major) or you comb every line of every set of patch notes.
