Building a Cutter battleboss is no fun

I feel your pain, OP.

My cutter, AITVAS 1, is currently serving as an armed bulk trader simply due to the heavy price tag of a proper combat build.

I’ll never sell my cutter though. It’s just too cool. It might be years before I set it up for combat but in the mean time I’ll enjoy some trading as it’s an occupation I’ve largely avoided so far.

Plus it’s fun for casual role playing. I like to imagine that I raise a lot of NPC eyebrows when I cruise into a federation starport with Aisling’s symbol emblazoned on my massive hull. My cargo bay doors swing open to reveal thousands of propaganda materials. Maybe they were wrong about the people’s princess. Suddenly the federation seems very oppressive...

Cutter FTW!

And another one who builds one of those mobile panic rooms... I'm gonna start to shoot Cutters on sight solely because I despise them and the gameplay that this kind of ship brings...

This make you sound like a snob. How long do you think you would last in your vulture vs a properly built battleboss?

420M credits for reactive armor, plus literally HUNDREDS of MILLLLLLLLLIONS credits for the other stuff = grind and makes me sad+angry a bit. But I already bought the paint pack so no stopping now!!!!!!

Millitary Armour, is more a reasonable priced and better in some ways.

I mean, I grinded 2 billion in around 15-20 hours. The most annoying grind is the rank grind but that's about it. Good luck engineering 8 boosters. And all the other stuff too. And then you gotta git gud with it or fly in PG/Solo because I bomb Cutters. It's majestic. Such elegance being torn apart, turn white designer metel into scratched off scrap floating into the void. Yes, truly statisfying. :p

Watch out for Mambas bringing reverberating cascade presents.

Too funny because just 10 minutes ago a Cmdr named "tweeks" (but it's not spelled that way; he/she uses 3s instread of Es) attacked me at Jameson with a Mamba but ran away after the cops showed up.

Mine Void Opals.

100m/hr. Roughly. It can be a bit random.

I'm sitting on 1.1Bn credits now. :D

Remember no matter how much money and engineering you throw at it, it still has a turning circle of roughly 2 earth's orbits.

Just take it for a few Void Opals Mining runs. It'll easily pay for itself within a few days :D

(and then... best to leave it in either Trade or Mining config. The Imperial DriftShip(tm) isn't really made for Combat due to its abysmal turn rate and its unique drift tendency that rivals even the ancient Titanic)

Well, having a "battleboss Cutter" is fun if you're the right kind of person. It's fun for me.

Being parked in the middle of RES, watching your fighter flying and pirates melting around you is... relaxing. Kind of like mining. :)

I’ve done that - in a Beluga, with restricted slots.

Mining Bounty Vouchers... it’s all good until a System Authority ship gets the plasma hiccups in your direction, then you have to move. Heard that was fixed, but haven’t gone out to check.

Depends on what do you call "fixed". They still get angry when you shoot them enough. The threshold has been raised and if you're friendly or allied with them, they let you get away with quite a lot. But a plasma ball in their face that takes almost all their shields down? Nope, they won't overlook that.

Personally I use turrets on my Cutter. If a turret hits a ship that you DON'T have targeted, nothing happens. Cops just shrug, and laugh it off. "Oy, ain't those turrets just stupid."

In this particular instance I was referring to SA ships with plasma opening fire when/instead of scanning you. Or just randomly firing off non-stop barrages of plasma at nothing.

Haven't seen that bug in ages.

As someone who flies between fire fights in a RES, it was very confusing when you'd see some shots in the distance and arrive to find security blasting away at nothing. Lol

More confusing when they’re plinking at you and you’ve a clean status. Confirmed present in 3.2.

I'll kind of miss that. Nothing lightens the mood quite like a SA anaconda casually coasting up to a miner for a scan only to vaporize them with a huge PA and then declare that the area is now secure.

I love my Cutter. I use it for trade and for Thargoid Incursion Conflict Zones or AX CZs. The incredible boost speed is really important for Thargoid warfare; the Anaconda and Vette are just not fast enough. You need a military grade hull so that's cheaper. In addition one can purchase AX multicannons turreted which is great for the Thargoid Scouts. The maneuverability sucks but can be somewhat alleviated using FA off. The most difficult fixed aiming is the Interceptor hearts which can be done at a reasonable distance.
