Hello CMDR's,

On Saturday night I was flying around on my second account when the loudest noise I have ever heard rattled the windows of our house. The sound was an explosion which happened approx. 1 mile from where I live, thankfully no-one has been killed but many were injured. I'd heard explosions before - I was in Manchester on the morning of the IRA bombing.

News started to emerge that it was a dance school which 30 minutes before had been full of children. Many people in a local Chinese restaurant were injured including a friend of my wife's from work. The cause of the blast is unknown.

The entire beige brick building is gone now.

I live in Prenton and everyone around us heard it, but I was watching Rogue One on a deafening volume so I probably thought it was part of the movie.

What the hell happened? The dog walking news group on the arno said someone smelled gas the night before but nobody could find anything.

My girlfriend says Griffiths does great pies as well, that looks a mess. I hope they clear the place quick and everyone there can get on with their daily lives.

I'm thinking gas leak. But that's weird when building had been full of people 30 mins before.

24 Hours before the locals had complained about the smell of gas but an engineer who attended is reported to of said 'That's just the Mersey.' If that is what has happened he needs to be sacked right away.

2 People are still in hospital with serious injuries but it is amazing that no-one was killed.

I bet whoever checked it on Friday and signed it off as a false alarm is crapping their pants right now.

Heard about this on the news but only on the radio, it's absolutely destroyed that building. Hope those injured make a full recovery but frankly I'm astounded nobody died.

Just watched the drone footage on the BBC and it's complete devastated some of the surrounding buildings as well.

I would like to be a fly on the wall when they start to question that gas engineer. Lets hope he is does not have a middle eastern appearance, or he is in all kinds of trouble.

It's the (granted rare) explosions like this that make me glad that Finland runs on electricity and district heating, instead of gas.

In the south of France recently, a gas depot exploded with 3000 gas cylinders

Gas explosions are amazingly loud. Years living near a quarry that did regular blasting couldn't prepare me for the sound of a cafe with a gas leak going off. Thankfully the latter was in the wee hours of the morning when all the shops were closed, so nobody was injured.

Glad nobody was killed in this one, I hope the people in hospital come through it okay.
