Building Recreations: A detailed guide

Hi Everyone!

I have had quite a few people ask me how i build my zoos and especially newcomers to the game want to know what it really takes to build their local zoo. Each time i can easily write many paragraphs explaining the basics and how to understand scaling from pictures and online tools. So i believe it is time to share my knowledge of recreating zoos into one location - a guidebook!

Why not a video one may ask? There is simply far too much to cover for my standard in a video, also my Scottish accent isn't the best for those wanting to understand a detailed guide 😅

Not just for recreations, i want to share all my knowledge about the game so those wanting to learn about advanced building techniques and zoo planning in a easy to read guide will all benefit from this. This will be a very long project over the course of more than a year as i have nearly 90 pages of content to write about :). Each month i plan to add a chapter, starting with the basics and slowly getting into the advanced parts of the game.

This guide will be compiled into a single word document/pdf for easy reading, each new chapter will see a new edition of the guide uploaded

Thank you so much for this topic! It is going to be so useful for me because one of the things i find really challenging in planet zoo is planning on the map and the scaleing.

I'll be following this topic really closely

also my Scottish accent isn't the best for those wanting to understand a detailed guide 😅
You could say that again, laddie...

I don't think my mixed accent is good for that kinda stuff either😅... When I speak English it sounds Texan but I mispronounce words (because of being bilingual) and when I speak Spanish my Argentinean accent can confuse some😬

Bring on the Captain Callum's Essential Guide to Planet Zoo Recreations (or the CCEGPZR for short)

Updated the content of the project, the minimum length of this will be 138 pages long which I expect to triple at the very least. Certain topics may be several pages plus picture references to describe to my standard (which I'm told is very detailed but easy to read)

Looking at the first stages, this month will be about the 2 fairly simple first sections of introducing the guide/recreations and general scaling advice for certain parts of the zoo. Of course scaling will provide detailed analysis of the tools available for recreations and how to eyeball scale for habitats and other areas of the zoo.

So starting off very simple and probably a skip over section of the guide but always great to start with a small introduction especially for people who may not know the very simple basics of a recreation. I have actually switched over from a word document to a slideshow presentation format for much easier formatting, not that anyone cares though :ROFLMAO:

Updated the front cover with my totally not staged construction of the woodland park zoo entrance (i swear this is actual footage of me building it)

Work in progress contents page , this will be a lifesaver when we are looking at 100+ pages. Charles the monarch butterfly graces the contents page

Easy to read page for each section of the guide

Trying not to be cheesy when writing a introduction. If anyone doesnt like this page, let me know and i can improve it

Now for some actual information :)

Basics of a recreation led me to be sarcastic at first but realising no one will understand my humor here i changed it to be more in line with the previous pages. That concludes the introduction section which is really simple to understand and likely no one will actually read, a pdf format will be uploaded onto the first post when the first proper section is included.
