Guide / Tutorial Building The Most Immersive Elite Dangerous Simulator - An Extensive Guide

Let's see if I can help a bit more then - here are a number of pictures I took from random angles to show what you were requesting (I think). You'll see the space between the pedal plate and seat are pretty far, say 6-10" or so. That was due to raising the platform and needing to raise the steering wheel, which brings it closer. So I moved the physical seat back so I could use the sliders to get a wider range of sizes, mainly if I have guests play it.

One note, when you put the seat on top of the V2/V3 when you get in and out of the seat you'll be putting stress on the platform as it's not designed to be mounted this way. It's not super bad, you just have to be aware and that when you get up and down you're being careful not to put too much stress in one direction or the other. You also want to be sitting so that the center of your mass is right over the platform, so as you adjust it with the sliders make sure your normal position is center like that. At times I'll slide my seat all the way back and if not careful I could really put a ton of stress on the platform due to the angles and where the center of mass is. Make sense? Pretty easy to get once it's setup and not a deal breaker at all.

Does the seat wobble while the V3 is powered off at all? Making sure to keep stable may actually be an issue, as I do a lot of general gaming in my rig, other than sim racing and ED.

Also, thanks so much for taking pictures, but it doesn't seem like they're working. Maybe a Dropbox permission issue?

Thank you very much for your recent replies, very helpful. I was not understanding (and do not completely still) how you mounted the seat to the V3 (which I have bought by now). I would love to see the pictures you uploaded but I am unable to. The V3 mount does not seem to have the same width (in the screw holes) as the obutto ozone base. Maybe this changed since V2.

Did you figure this out? I was thinking of mounting the platform ON TOP of the base then mounting the seat on top of that. This would solve the problem of trying to move the keyboard tray and shifter mounts. Although the seat would be quite high.

Yup, this is exactly how I did it and for the exact same reason. I just unbolted the Obutto seat from the main frame that holds the monitors and wheel. Then I spaced that about a foot from the main base and plopped that on top of the V2. That lined up rather nicely with some of the random hole/locations. I then had to raise up the pedal platform so I made a make-shift bar in front to change the angle to make it flatter and higher.

Make sense? I'm assuming by now you have it all setup.
