Burst Laser was nerfed? (it no longer has higher breach chance)

Would you, uh, care to explain that particular opinion? Im willing to wait for you to wipe the dribble from your mouth, but the arm flapping is a little distracting.

Focus... its like heart attack, beat beat and u die... fd maybe silent nerf and make focus 999% f knows i would not raise my bear hand... but all these changes lets get the ordinary village people to find out...

Did some quick math on it > a class 1 pulse laser with Focused blueprint does about 25% more damage against an Anaconda at 1000m then a class 1 pulse laser with Overcharge blueprint + Oversized effect does at 500m + you get the better range with the Focused blueprint, so in some cases it's way better.

So in my opinion the Focused blueprint is not garbage.

So I rerspect your opinion, thats fine. Fd keep boosting the damage, but u all keep going 2.2 pc meta. Thats fine with me. All I say good luck cmdrs...
 
Even the large one is a little sluggish. I'd love if FDev normalized the burst firing cycle to be the same across all sizes, and instead just increased the delay between bursts on the larger weapons.

I use large, gimbaled, overcharged, inertial impact bursts on my clipper, and while you aren't wrong, theres something special about pulling the trigger and watching as you lasers sluggishly fire 3 pulses each, only one of which actually hits the mark but takes out 40% of the hull of that eagle who thought it was a good idea to get close to you.

Just the feeling of raw power you get when your lasers do that "PEW. PEW. PEW." and you see massive beams striking your target for massive damage makes up for the lack of utility. Not saying I wouldn't mind quicker bursts mind you.

Focused is good vs larger ships when you put it on size 1 and 2 weapons. Most of it's potential is wasted on size 3 and 4 weapons, even against the most armored of targets. I had 2 focused medium bursts to complement my overcharged Inertial impacts on my clipper and they worked quite well, but in the end I switched over to efficient beams because I needed more DPS.

G1 long range beam is one of the best laser weapon, you don't need to fight at anything further than 3 Km, besides it's hard to hit anything at such range anyway since the hit box become so small.

However at say, 2-3 Km, a single G1 long range medium beam would be dealing equal or more damage to 2 G5 overcharged medium pulse, while actually consuming less energy. The single beam still generate more heat yes, but there's thermal vent if you need to.

And that's also mean you are freeing a weapon slot for other gun.

Focused need to be G5 to worth it, but even G1 long range is something every pilots need to try with laser mods.

Focused is my go-to on smaller gimballed lasers for this reason. That APV buff makes a big difference, it gives enough range to be doing near-full damage at the distances gimballed weapons still have respectable accuracy within.

Was true on old system. Not so much on new bright boys... g1 no no no
And I dont say focused is bad omg, its fine, its good, its there... fd devs actually did some calculations thats fine... but ok... give me something more than youtube guy said its good...

I don't know about that. I find it virtually impossible to miss with long range railguns at several KM. Convergence ceases being an issue at range and the target's ability to move across your field of view to get out from under the crosshairs is all but nullified.

why would you bring up a fixed railung in a laser topic?
Because I actually have those in long range flavour. The ease with which you can hit more distant targets is similar to using fixed lasers, being that they're both hitscan weapons. Only the lasers are even easier because they don't need to precharge.
 
Long range or focussed are generally the best mods for c1/2 lasers because they both help to mitigate damage fall off from the weapons. That in itself is an utterly ridiculous mechanic indicative of the lack of thought that has gone into Elite's damage model, damage values shown for each weapon are frequently never attained due to range and hull hardness and damage resistance.
