Busted back to Harmless

Have you ever worked on a Starship before? Yup Totally owned a Panther Clipper once
She says she "Did my time flying a Panther Clipper", not that she owned it.

Panther Clipper has a crew requirement of 12, chances are she was one of the helmsmen of a Panther Clipper. There's probably 2 other people who spent their time flying that Panther and 4-6 people who can claim they were the gunners. It's a big ship and presumably the NPCs in the universe don't get to fly them solo through a simplified interface.

IIRC it was still the owner of the ship doing the flying

If only that concept art was accurate (and the new design was more faithful to the old, and it could NOT land on planets), it would be awesome, love those side thrusters that look like they give you the potential to afterburn straight up vertically, that would be fun. The new concept art as seen on the wiki, looks rather like most of the other ships in Elite, and is stated to be much smaller than the original (which was the biggest ship in the space lanes allegedly), more like an Anaconda in size. If that's the case, I can live without it, it was supposed to be huge based on the original concept. No doubt it has been made sleeker to land on planets, which is ridiculous. A ship that size capable of carrying that much cargo should not be capable of landing on planets, or at least, if it can do that, then it's space speed should be around 400 with a boost of 600 the engines would be that powerful. Bring back the flying brick with rotating thrusters, as per artwork above please, not that generic blandness featured in the pic on the wiki.

Interestingly, though, I have suggested in other threads that combat rank could drop due to lack of use or getting killed in combat. I recall that I first raised it as a solution to those whining about the "oh so scary" NPC's :p.

Only if it happens *after* unlocking that engineer who requires Dangerous rank.

I've flown a panther clipper and you get 5-10 kills every day by just splatting random non-panther clipper sized ships by simply flying through them. It's impossible to be a harmless panther clipper pilot.

The last time I flew a Panther Clipper I was in Sol and its gravity well sucked in an Imperial Courier from Alpha Centauri.
