button combos dont work independently from the single button press anymore.

i guess there was an update and i had to redo all my key bindings. its largely unusable now. for example, i always had "toggle fsd" set to Y, and "open galaxy map" to Y+[left d-pad]. now, when i open the galaxy map, it registers the individual Y press as well as the combo so it starts spooling my fsd (or drops me out of supercruise!). also, i can no longer just hit B to leave the camera. i open camera with B+[right d-pad], so now i have to hit B+[right d-pad] to close it and when i do that it applies the [right d-pad] as a power distributor adjustment. another example, i used A for "select target ahead" and A+[down d-pad] to set throttle to 75%. NOW when i try to set the throttle while approaching a destination, it will deselect it, or select something else in view, throwing off my approach. ive found one reddit post talking about the same issue from 2016 but no one had a solution. what am i missing?

From the way you describe it it seems that the logic has changed to execute a keypress on key DOWN instead of on key UP (which is the usual case). Are you sure you haven't implemented this change yourself from some settings on your device or something?

ya, thats exactly it. im sure i havent changed anything. its just an xb1 controller in windows 10 so theres no real settings to mess with, it just works as it works. and i dont see any other settings in elite that would affect this.

I can confirm this issue also affects my t16000 twin sticks but I cannot find a current bug report for it? Do you want to start one and I'll confirm it, or do you want me to start one and you can confirm it?

I can confirm this and it's not just the latest update. My night vision key bindings are L2+R2 and my DSS is L2 so whenever I turn on my night vision. It turns on along with switching me to DSS mode. Same with FSS which is R3+L3 and headlook which for me is R3.
Someone should submit a bug report and leave a link here.
