C-logging may actually now be relevant...

Never cared about C-logging before. I always thought it was a fringe thing between gankers working on a kill tally, or high end pvpr's wanting legit notches.

If PP actually goes Open only, Clogging will actually be a real issue facing a new "core" element of a major game feature.

I don't see how Open only PP can be a reality without some major work on instancing at the same time.

If instancing is not addressed - Open only PP will be a real mess.

If by open PP you mean open PvP, which I'm guessing you do? Well, it's been a real mess since day 1 thanks to cloggnig.

The new focused feedback is suggesting Powerplay will be Open only. If instancing is not handled for that major game change, there will be pitchforks and torches...

Fair point - I can easily imagine someone who is obsessed over merit farming will be afraid to lose those merits, and will pick the easiest way out.

Sandro has talked about a karma system around a year ago. It's impossible for them to detect if a player combat logs or is disconnected by a power outage/internet dropout, so detecting patterns in a player's behaviour is their only solution. This would hopefully be ready for the Q4 update as well.

How do you think this lack of capacity for evidence collection of C-logging will impact Open Only Power Play?

Will it essentially gut the point of making Power Play Open only?

If a non combat player is interdicted in Open only Power Play, it seems that the clog essentially leaves things as they currently are, making Open only Power Play much ado about nothing.

I'm optimistic that open PP will solve more problems than it stands to create, so if clogging becomes a serious issue it's something FDev can address more forcefully then.

The thing is that the guy who combat log can't switch to Solo or private cause he would lost his PP merits / commodities. So he HAS to come back in open play, and you could still be there in normal space to catch him when he logs back

I can't wait to see how long someone is willing to park and wait for someone to log back. Not to mention the one logging off. :D

Mexican standoff logoff style.

Combat logging is and has always been a real issue because it has never concerned PvP only.

In reality it has way more impact on PvE and BGS. People using this exploit to avoid the destruction of their greedy ship in order to finish their mission or PP trip will affect the BGS.

With Open only PP and karma system, combat logging will be way less effective and less used especially if PP defenseless haulers can t switch mode.

Excellent point.. what if on disconnecting for any reason you had to rejoin in the same mode as you left? Would make CLogging in general less attractive..
