Also interstellar factors are criminals using bribes and whatever to local corrupt law enforcement. They can't operate in medium and high security systems because there is much less corrupt law enforcement there checking that bounties were really paid off instead of taking the persons word for it. In terms of gameplay it also makes sense as it's there to promote crime in these systems more often and deter crime in the other systems.
Regardless of whether i need to 'get gud' or practice some trigger control, a 400Cr bounty is shockingly bad for my game time and my assumption is, it's probably not ideal for others.
If i destroyed the ship with friendly fire, i'd have no complaint to make, a bounty for murder justifies what happened, regardless of accidental or not. Friendly fire should in my opinion result in a fine for "misconduct in battle" or something along them lines. these Fines could mature into Bounties after a couple of weeks or something if left unpaid.
I thought that these smaller bounties could be paid off in the local system (so long as you have no notoriety) via anonymous access. Has that not been implemented yet? I thought it was in the last update, but it could be in the next one instead. Check the C&P feedback forum, though, as I'm sure this is a change that is planned.
Arguments can be made for and against this stance. Whilst the current system does technically work, we’re considering the following amendment, which we see as a potential improvement:
1. Bounties that do not include the crime of murder can always be paid off at security contacts.
2. Bounties that include the crime of murder can only be cleared using Interstellar Factors.
it's ludicrous that i can be allied and wanted for friendly fire
Its ludicrous that I have to make a short 5 minute detour and pay a fine that's probably 0.000004% of the value of my ship...after i've just hit a completely innocent Spacecraft with military grade weapons ???
The last time it happened to me, the "completely innocent Spacecraft" was a pirate lord's Cutter (wing assassination mission target). I got a bounty on my head for scratching its megashield once with the 2 APAs of my Vulture. My scan proving that he was wanted finished 1 second later.

Outrageous!
IF are a legimate business providing essential services to the community of the Pilots Federation!
Slandering an elite team of lawyers and legal specialists as criminals and corrupt law enforcement is simply baseless gossip!
No longer a problem as of 3.0.3
My apologies, I just got the internal audit report back from my local interstellar factors. They said it's clean and that they assessed every transaction, retainer, personal donation, special discount and miscellaneous outgoing as well as investigating all agents fees, political contributions and even looked into every brown paper envelope!![]()
It happened well after 3.0.3 IIRC.
I read somewhere that the "never shoot before scan" rule was going to change, that was why I shot at him unscanned in the first place. But maybe it's time to test it again.
You say trigger discipline?
I'd like to actually see you in an entire session, since you have implied that you are beyond reproach with your sanctimonious tone! Selective memory, I suspect!
It's always been funny to me how some people will hop on their high horses and talk down to others on this forum while claiming they're some kind of uber skilled combat pilot.
What still gets me is that bounty hunters and police forces will murder you for a 300cr bounty. That wouldn't even pay for the ammo to kill me most times.
