Space ship combat, local physics grids, EVA, Mechs, Grappling hooks, High Fidelity, great looking graphics and motion capture. Will be interesting to see how this new direction will turn out and how well it plays. Will COD turn into Battlefield in space?

Yeah, I'm not much into CoD however this one is looking very tasty! I will probably get it and then wait until SQ42 is on 70% off sale on steam :D

However this is going to be a hard blow on the SQ42 release. CIG really need to step up if they want to have a chance now. SC already look tired and old compared to this release.

I'm... speechless.
On one hand it looks like Call of Duty - Appleseed.
On the other it's SO OOVER the top that I don't even know where to start.

Mostly is... Ok how are they going to go after that?!
Then I saw the Remastered and I'm like... Oh they simply re-start all over again. :/

---

On the other hand I can almost envision the EA staff after watching all the hype about No man's sky and saying- "We, like TOTALLY, need to put that transition in and somehow... SPACE! You know? You seen how many space games are out there? ENough copying movies- let's do the SPACE!"

Oh well, if nothing the idea seems better off than Ghosts. Or Advanced Warfare... Or basically anything after MW3 so far.

Well now, that has firmly put the cat amongst the pigeons!

It has long been apparent that the space-game genre was back in vogue, and those dragging their heels are running the risk of being made obsolete, as there are a lot of 'comers' on the scene right now.

I've never been a huge CoD fan, but this does look pretty fab and "Infinity Ward says battles will be fought both on the ground and up in space, putting players at the controls of jet fighters and spaceships with "few visible load times." The huge warship you'll be piloting, the Retribution, will also serve as your home".

Time will tell of course, but it all starts to sound a bit like some other in-development games may start feeling the rug moving from under their feet, with 7 months to 'front up', else risk being a damp squib.

Edit: I can see SC being the subject of many dissertations in the years to come - no matter how things pan out.

Edited: "Infinite Warfare will ship with ...Zombies..." - Okay, enough already, I submit, it's on my Xmas list!

a futuristic story that casts players as Captain Reyes, a "Tier One Special Operations pilot" who pilots one of "Earth's last remaining warships," indicating that this 13th game in the hyper-popular Call of Duty series will be on a scale larger than its its Earth-locked predecessors.

Well, it could be crap, or it could be a rollecoaster ride. That and Andromeda ME are now in my sight.

yeah but it doesn't have Gary Oldman really unenthusiastically pretending to be an old man! That's what people need these days.

Well apart from that hideous rendering of Bowie's classic Space Oddity, the game gets a big 'meh' from me. Although I have to admit I turn away once I hear the CoD name.
No thanks, I'll skip it.

Fair do's they make good trailers. Loved the early COD games. Not played the recent ones which not been so well received. Clearly this has been in development for some time. Looks cool, but is a trailer...

According to Minkoff, Infinite Warfare will offer a seamless experience in which players are fully invested in not only their character, but also their vehicle. "It's kind of the Top Gun fantasy," he explained, noting that "it's your fighter that you get to upgrade and customize. You get to walk along the flight deck and have the flight crew preparing it for you and saluting you and you get into it and you fly out into these crazy missions that you chose to go to."

Instead of fragmenting the game by shoehorning in vehicle sequences, "they are seamlessly woven into the fiction of the character and the mechanics of the game," providing an experience that Minkoff described as being "completely holistic."

In this way, "you can be boots on ground, fighting through the streets of a city on earth, call down your Jackal, get into it, fly up through the atmosphere, engage in a dogfight over the orbit of earth, finish that dogfight, land on the deck of the carrier, get into the carrier, go up to the bridge, and order your ship to go to the next mission and all of it happens seamlessly with no loading screens."

Yeah, sounds great, I'm already sold and its delivered THIS YEAR!!! No pre alpha or beta, no released and ready.

I've disliked the CoD franchise ever since they moved away from WW2, however, this is the first time I've actually been excited for a CoD game since then.

This looks pretty awesome.

trailer looks interesting(tho the space oddity cover was BAD) but than again COD trailers usually are good even if the games ends up bad. Hopefully it will be more enjoyable than last few years COD's, and plz no cringe worthy last act with a hint WTH is happening...

just to add my 2 cents on the upcoming COD vs SQ42 debate. COD BOIII made like 500 mil in like 3 days( COD IW will likely make as much or more) while star citizen made 100 something million in like 5 years using hopes and dreams so I think we all know where this is heading.....

Dev talk about what the gameplay will be like. Jump to 19:19 for the space discussion

Can't compare CoD with other games, it is not fair.

CoD is more of a social phenomenon, CoD4 came at the right time, close to the launch of the X360 and the PS3 and pushed all the right buttons at that time so it became extremely popular.
Reached critical mass and the ball of popularity feedback started to roll, so the reason CoD is popular is because of that very popularity. Most of the CoD player base are not even gamers or people interested in gaming, they just hear everyone talking about CoD and see CoD everywhere, they wont even bother or care about the existence of other games, they think that if other games are not as popular, they must not be worth it.

However SQ42 and CR have been tooling around for 4 years, when did CoD in space start development? it clearly shows how different CIG and professional publishers deal with project management.
In this situation IW will contain all the features promised in SQ42, now in 2016.

If the game is only half as good as it looks it will have an impact on SC and SQ42.

It seems that CoD was done in 3 years, with less then 100 million (that is the current word on the street).

Well, CO-OP is in, massive storyline campaign, seamless transition to different places in space and ZOMBIES O.O!! or boy I'm sold, MVP SQ42 can wait until its on steam for 70% off :D
