Call The Midwife on BBC1 followed by Mr Selfridge on ITV - Sunday PM

Honestly - there's never been a better time for dutiful husbands to slip away un-noticed and get some quality ED time - whilst the JPO (Joy Prevention Officer) is engrossed in these period dramas.

Back in the days when the first Elite was released I used to love it that my wife was into the various evening soap operas which started at about 6pm and deluged the screen for about three hours. Absolute bliss!! I would make it seem I was doing her a favour by leaving her in peace to enjoy her chick drivel and make her a cuppa and hand her a plate of biscuits as I went to the computer room. I got lots and lots of brownie points for this husbandly consideration as well as some nice, uninterrupted evenings of gaming. :D

Now with added Poldark on BBC1 ..... featuring hunky Aidan Turner. Mrs Caspar will simply not be able to resist. I've asked the crew to prep my ship already. Thank you BBC for making Sundays a viable guilt free gaming day.

I was a child in the 80s!

Catch-up TV, a whole week of soaps /cooking/property/DIY programs and other TV nasties for her to watch

Only an hour for CTM tonight, barely enough time to get started. Gotta watch poldark myself being cornish and all that... Not for hunky ross mind, im a demelza kind of guy...

Damm you man, your making me jealous. Stuck here watching Poldark with the missus. No way out of this if I want to keep on her good side

Yeah...but Top Gear!

Actually almost flew into a brown dwarf laughing so much at James and Jeremy driving Peugeot's on this evening episode, on my pad whilst playing Elite in the background!

They replayed the Peugeot episode? It was hilarious tbf though lol

Call the Midwife isn't my cup of tea, but I quite enjoy Mr. Selfridge, I must say (even though I'm more of a "Harrods guy" myself). All a bit of a moot point as I'll need to wait for the new season to make it's way to the US via PBS.

Now that does make you an old timer! :) I was a teen when I attempted to waste my entire life on the original Elite. Pretty sure I remember my parents attempting to ration my Elite play time...

Luckily for my sanity, my JPO realised that the chick drivel soaps are just a tedious, depressing waste of time (Emmerdale, Corrie, Eastenders and the like) and is currently filling her time watching every episode of B5.
