Honestly, I think you/FD should be looking for solutions how to draw more people from the big groups into OPEN. Solving the problems that cause big groups to exist. E.g. by catering for group afiliation within OPEN. Most bigger groups have been created because they feel a need to seggregate themselves from the rest, mainly due to differences of opinion regarding PvP/PvE . Now I completely understand that a parent + kid combo don't want to be griefed all the time so there's a need for smaller groups for those kinds of purposes. But for instance take the Mobius group. They basically play in a group to prevent unwanted PvP... that's thousands of people. I just don't get that. Not that I want to deliberately push them into a gameplay type they don't want. But still I think it would be better if most people were put/playing together.
Now I am not a gamedesigner and I have a lot of respect for how you/FD are setting up the game up until now but player seggregation is never a good thing in my honest opinion. I am affraid that in the long run it will hurt the game.

He's not talking about Private Groups, but Player Gorups. That is to say groups of players, irrespective of what matchmaking mode they choose to use.
