Can Frontier Compete?

I have no idea how they can do that. Nobody can be online 24/7 to protect such things, and even if they are, imbalance in player group sizes would put small groups at the mercy of large groups.

Not to mention instancing issues. Is the carrier in a single instance? In all of them? Only in Open/Private instances? I'm glad it's not my job to think around all this!

And now a non fanboy respose.:D
Of course ED is going to notice it when and if star citizen and x4 come out.
Firstly in general people are curious about these titles and many will try it out.
Secondly ED is in a bit of a strange time now with a lot of players disappointed in the way ED is being developed.
Also frontier have already stated that 2018 will have slow development with no new content but only fleshing out.
Now if these other games manage to get it right combined with the above mentioned I think you could potentially see quite a few players moving on.

Just my opinion.

Erm... no new content? So what is Squadrons?

Just more pew pew really and not that interesting for everybody.
Personally I could not care less for squadrons.
If I want multiplayer and pew I play world of tanks which is designed for it.
But I am not forcing you to share my opinion I am just explaining why I think people might move on from elite and to new titles in 2018.
I know I will try out x4 and certainly star citizen when they come out.
As for ed I am already bored with it and so are most people I used to play with

I can't resist.

Well, I d hope that FDEV goes a bit less conservative for a change and makes those platforms destroyable and therefore worth fighting for and defend. Would go a long way to add player agency and self drive. It would obviously need to be structured and framed in game according to the instanced nature of the game etc which can be a challenge.

I d also hope these new features and carrier pressence in particular have an impact in the BGS, and are also linked with player groups identification and pledge to minor factions. From that stand point the territorial game could be actually reinforced.

Mobius and Solo would surely benefit from this approach.

Does anyone know yet?

Will it actually turn out to be what the Design Team currently think it is?

Will it require a load of quick fixes to other areas of the game just to make it "viable"?

News at eleven.

Like all other releases, we must wait for beta before getting anything more than a title.

All boring and irrelevant, squadrons will be new content. Dont let me stop you from complaining, but at least keep it semi-real.
