For whatever reason, I pre-purchased this on Steam and I would honestly rather just go direct to FDev instead. I did do that with Elite Dangerous and I would like to do this with JWE as well. Its not like I dont support Steam as I have several games through them. Anyone ever done this with a pre-order? Nothing against Steam really. They get plenty from me.
Can I change from Steam to direct purchase?

I don't beleive that JWE is available for purchase on PC anywhere other than from Steam.

You'll need to open up a support ticket with Steam support asking for a refund, then once that has been completed, you can head over to https://www.frontierstore.net/games/jurassic-world-evolution.html and buy it there.

Not to complain really, but ........now that I went through the whole process. So, this isnt like ED, I will be going through Steam anyway? I probably should have just let it alone as it was. I didnt know thats how it is.
Yeah, you will always need Steam to play the game.
I'm a 9 year member of Steam and have 133 games on my account and I never had a problem with Steam, so you shouldn't worry to much.

I know for me, it's not so much that I have ever had any problems with Steam, but buying direct from Frontier puts more money in Frontiers pockets as they don't have to pay the Steam overhead for direct purchases. Same with store purchases, which is why I always try to buy direct when ever possible.
Well, I do hope they at least got a bit more for all of that. But I was expecting a separate interface like ED. I guess I should have asked about that.
Nope, never had any issue with Steam and Ive been with steam since the beginning. It even has some advantages. Like all things though, there is 2 sides to the coin, fence, river., whatever. All I can say is never put all your eggs in one basket. I do try and spread it around a little. Even though its a pain to have multiple services just to play. I do like to see the guys that do the work, get the money they work hard for. I say that as a self employed Tool and Die maker. Its not easy these days.
